Have any of you guys experienced a time where you're just getting bored with boxing? Where you don't feel like doing it as much, I guess you could say you're heart isn't in it any longer? When I first started I was obsessed, The past few weeks I've been feeling so ehhh about it. It's so annoying! Just a phase I think but I want that passion back!
You know what...this is weird. Same exact feeling for me the last week or so. Which is really bad because I have a fight in 2-4 weeks. I remember reading about Pete Maravich, when he was a kid his dad straight up would not let him play basketball till he was 9 I think. It made him want to really really bad, so once he did turn 9 he tore **** up. I like to go to the gym with basically a raging murder boner. If I can't have that...aggressiveness I guess--then I don't want to train. I took all of last week off to recuperate from minor injuries and to recharge. Went back to the gym today and tired more quickly than normal, but I felt much much more focused and I accomplished more than usual. My advice is to give it a rest for a week or at least go light. Maybe it'll come back if you deprive yourself of it for a short time.
I've never been bored with boxing but I've had a few times when I've been sick of training. It's only natural. I think there's a deeper issue there, however, if you no longer like the game as a whole.:thumbsup
I've always been under the belief there is more something wrong with those of us who choose to train ridiculous hrs, over and over and over and over...to only compete ever so often for usually rather brief moments with no certainties, pushing our bodies and risking injury long before the competitive bell rings. That there was a part of us that was broken, bruised, mentally or morally beat down in need of some repair that the only remedy happened to be exhausting training and conditioning. But when we found it, also came a feeling that we were finally complete, whole, good; and we knew we loved it and found something special in it and of ourselves.
Yea i think my last tournament did it to me. I was supposed to have 4 fights, i got 1. The rest were walk overs. i trained so hard for all that, and got nothing. Now i fight this saturday, i think lol. It's a mentally draining sport.
I only get bored with boxing when I have no fights to watch and the ones i own have been played out. (like now)
Over-training... Probably lol. I am in the gym 6 days a week, 2 hours at a time. and i do cardio 4 times a week boxing. i'll take a break after golden gloves i guess lollol
****, i thought this was in the classic. Apathy comes and goes. It's human nature in anything you do.
I never get bored of boxing, I wouldnt know what to do without it. Sure training can be a pain, but its a good pain.
it could be your both physically and mentally exhausted, a lil tapering to your workouts will greatly benfit you in this situation... if thats the case
i had 8 fights and then packed in for 2 years then i got back into it i fought last june and am fighting again march 18
