Hey guys what are some techniques or skills you feel are lost arts in boxing. For me its head movement its alot of fighters today especially the pressure fighters where this is more crucial , that do not move they head from side to side and get caught with easy punches.

In the heavyweight division for example the two best boxers the Klistschko's, are excellent jabbers and one way to get through they jab is to use head movement to get inside. I understand this is easier said that done and the Klistschko's are amazing but still I feel coaches of all divisions should teach this technique it is very underused nowadays.

    Honorable mention:
    Jab to the body
    Uppercut

    Thoughts?

    defense and inside fighting.

very few fighters have solid defense.

very few know how to fight on the inside.

Pivoting out once you flurry. A lot of fighters pose for the camera afterwards instead of moving to the side. Short steps to the side to turn the opponent instead of moving straight back. It wastes a lot less energy and leaves you in position to punch.

Footwork in general is becoming a lost art. A slide to the left is as useful as a jab to set up the left hook, but most fighters are content to stand at the wrong angle to fire off punches. Really dumb.

very basic stuff like, jabing and having head off the line of attack, head turned slightly to right.

the problem is fighters not giving back and nobodies becoming trainers.
inside fighting is the hardest part of boxing imo, its rarely taught in boxing gyms in the uk.

I agree with head movement. It's as if fighters enjoy getting hit.

You can't expect any sport to stay the same over a long period of time. Maybe these lost arts just declined in popularity over time and trainers don't see the same value in them now
