Bob and Weaving... Inside fighting.. Jab to the bodyatsch Because of Mayweather EVERYBODY is doing that...
Footwork. Fighters have nowhere near the same lower body technique, stamina, explosiveness, and overall athleticism that I am used to seeing out of fighters.
Inside fighting is another good one. Because of their lack of infighting skills, referees seem more prone to break up the action once it gets there because 90% of them refuse to fight their way out of it.
:roflatsch That foolishness makes sense when I see who is in your siggy Trainers can't teach what they don't know.
The death of the Bob and Weave style left the door open for those boring giants that have killed the sport..:deal Pulling straight back like Lewis and the Klit sisters is why they've manage to get KTFO in the weakest era in boxing..
Agreed with the people saying in-fighting, educated pressure, blocking/parrying shots, and head/upper body movement.
I like talking about these things since I teach boxing and looking to have more fights: -Keeping the head off center and not in the middle to be hit. -Varying the left hand to set up the right (there are a few that still do this). Things like tripling the jab, hooking and throwing a long left uppercut off the jab, doubling up the hook up and down, etc. -Like somebody said earlier sliding and stepping out rather than fleeting with the feet (I think the amateur system has contributed to this) -Bobbing and dipping under punches -Riding with the punch to decrease the effectiveness of a punch -Feinting -Moving after throwing a combination or punch (someone mentioned current fighters posing afterwards) -Catching punches with the shoulder, elbows, top of the head, biceps, and forearms -Wrestling and inside fighting on the inside -Finishing with a jab or the lead hand most of the time -Parrying and deflecting punches -Excessive movement
You just have to wonder if prospects today watch fights of the old timers at all and see the **** they're missing out on. You don't need a master trainer to teach you how to parry a jab. just watch more damn fights and practice it in sparring. I can't name a fighter today that can consistently parry a jab. but maybe that's because jabbing sucks today too
I don't see fighters weaving and bobing and punching in between. Thats a beautiful skill to watch when it's done right.:bbb:bbb
