Exactly -- he can call Joe's name, and there is no chance Joe will answer. Now if Slappy suddenly got a wild hair up his ass, and answered the call, -- well -- I'd bet money that Dirrel has never even had nightmares as bad as that reality would get!
i think its good for these guy to stir it up, but dirrell has been a pro for a while now...time to put up or shut up
Anthony Dirrell has been battling cancer and legal problems. His career obviously has had to take a back seat.
Dirrell's going to have much more pressing matters than worrying about a retired Calzaghe; he should be focusing 100% on the upcoming tournament, which is the opportunity of a lifetime for him.
Froch wasn't much ahead of Dirrell in terms of resume at the point that he started talking **** about Joe.
At least Calzaghe was still active at that point. What's the sense of talking **** about a guy you'll never fight when you've got a title shot coming up?
Just another guy talking **** about Joe Calzaghe to make a name for himself. See how well that worked for Lacy? Reid? Bika? Manfredo? Kessler? Hopkins? Woodhall? Starie? Eubank?
Anthony had Cancer or something he was out with Kemo. he's on the come back and he a lot bett IMO and has better power. BUt Joe "The Gosple" Calzaghe would smash 7 shades of **** out of Dirrell i hope froch Knocks him the **** out when he fights him
I thought Froch started talking **** and calling Joe out right around or right after the Hopkins fight. :huh So if not officially, then Joe was functionally retired.
I've seen 4 of Dirrell's fight starting with his abysmal performance with Curtis Stevens, after that fight I thought I would never want to see him again. But after his victory over anthony hanshaw, I decided to give him another chance. I was actually at his fight with Oganov (on the undercard of mijares-darchinyan), and he looked incredible. I agree he needs to step up now, a fight with Froch would be fantastic, although I think he needs a fight with a top level veteran before fighting the elite. A fight with Alan Green, Bika, or Inkin would be appropriate.
+1 on everything except having been live @ Dirrell-Oganov/Mijares-Darchinyan. :yep I agree that Andre should tackle a Green or Bika now before tackling much less winnable encounters in the tourny. That way his stock will still be fresh in '11 if his record gets dinged with a few losses.
