People make way too big a deal of records when you're an amateur. They really don't mean very much, not like a record means in the pros.

I know how you feel and I was struggling with this feeling a few months ago. I'm an amateur motorcycle road racer, have been for the past 3 years (you think it's tough going pro in Boxing? Try it in bike racing!).

These past few months, I've found myself losing interest and losing desire to go out there and race again. All the travel, costs, BS you have to put up with. It just doesn't seem worth it. Just like you, I started really worrying I would stop doing it (something I've promised myself I'd never do).

I decided to stop thinking about it, stop racing (for the remainder of the year) and stop going on the bike racing message boards. It's been 4 months and it really helped me put things in perspective. The things we do, sometimes become such a part of us, we can't envision living without them. But you need to break away, stay off the boxing message boards, put your gloves out of sight etc. Reset yourself, recharge the batteries.

It all comes down to how long you want to stay in the sport. The more intense the flame, the sooner it will burn out. Remember that

    Better than 0 and 1.

I think in time sweet wins will come for both of us.

man i feel the same way sometimes... i've sorta been feeling that way lately.. although i had a good win tonight that sorta lit the fire again for me but it will die down soon....

the thing is to do the boxing thing properly u have to make it pretty much your life.. its not like other sports such as soccer and football etc etc where u train 2 maybe 4 hours a week and can still go out eat what u want partyu and drink and stuff boxing is always with u.. u cant just go out and drink and eat what u want ya have to train for several hours most days a week and ****...

i think your just feelin what im feelin atm kinda burnt out... after trainin so hard and all that ya just wanna relax and be able to do what ya want instead of always worrying bout ya fitness and weight etc etc...

id say just take a break from it completely do something else to take your mind away from it then start back up again and you'll prob feel alott fresher...

thats my plan anyway i got maybe 4 more fights this year to soldier through them im takin a good month long break where boxing will be off my mind then im gonna start up again fresh mid januaray

I had that after my last fight. Was super disciplined and trained 6 days a week. Took about 4 months off completely, partied like mad, ate what I wanted, wasted my time and money on ladies etc. But then I realized how much I loved the sport, and that I actually really missed it and was forcing myself not to go to the gym again. So I made myself wait some more on purpose, and then came back mad hungry again and am really going for it. Give that a try. If you don't end up wanting to come back then boxing's not for you.

Well, one thing you might notice that I've noticed is someone might have an unimpressive looking record but be pretty skilled or a pretty good boxer. We have one here in Montana who's like that, a kid who's really good but has a ton of losses. But he's started to come into his own and absolutely pummeled this kid who thought he was hot **** back in April. And this kids record has to be something like 10-25 maybe or so.

that kinda sucks for him... anyone that is outta boxing, or doesnt understand what u guys are saying about records would think he sucks. Its a shame that things like that have to happen. But u think hes gonna start winning more?
