It was a close, sure. But what the fuk did Pernell do? He barely outjabbed Oscar. Rarely threw more than one punch at a time, that being a jab. Oscar threw more, applied the pressure and even though he did miss alot, he still landed the more effective punches, power punches. Who do you like, one jab at a time? Or the guy who swarms his opponent, missing alot but still getting one or two power punches in. As far as dammagin blows go, Oscar's face was unscathed, pernell's eye swollen almost shut. Pernell was staggered from an uppercut Oscar landed in the 3-4th round. Pernell simply didn't do enough to win that fight.
I figured as much ,regardless of the outcomes he laid it all on the line against the very best ..No wonder he was so popular ..
Whitaker scored a KD in that fight. Whitaker was making Hoya miss all night. He was basically peppering Hoya with his jab and getting in some good shots in the inside. I thought Whitaker edged it.
I had Tito- 115-114. I had DLh 116-112 over Whitaker I had Mosely 115-113 over DLH. I had Sturm 116-112 over DLH. I had DLH by one point over quartey. I can't remember my score. Keith
The Tito and Sturm fights are the only ones I thought could have clearly been flipped. Mosley 2 was close fight and could have gone either way.
I think DLH lost to Sturm, beat Whitaker in a close fight but clearly, beat Quartey close but clearly as Mosley 2 and Tito as well.
Whitaker gets so much props on that fight because he's Whitaker, that's all. There was a popular edited fight up on youtube for a long time which slanted the fight to Whitaker. I think many saw this. The full fight revealed a very different thing, Whitaker losing.
