I don't know all of % as far as payouts to fighters go, but there's a lot of issue regarding the ducking of not accepting the 50/50 split of revenue for Mayweather/Pacquiao. Realistically I would assume that most fights at pretty much every level aren't 50/50 anyway. Does anyone have any knowledge of top fighters such as Trinidad, Hopkins, De la Hoya, SR Leonard, or anyone else and whether they had any 50/50 fights regardless if they were fighting a big name or not? 50/50 seems legit for pretty much every fight, but since its probably not done often, I don't know why we should expect it to be done in this case.
if ali and frazier hasn't agreed on 50/50 for the biggest purse in boxing of that time like floyd did, then we won't have seen a classic fight that resulted in a great trilogy.
I would be interested in seeing how these past fight purses were split as well.. Also wondering if anyone uses the same business model as Mayweather for their fights, because it seems like he takes more because of how he does business.
It would seem fair that fighters should get at least close to 50/50, give or take 10-15% either way. But there's really no major penalty because if you go in and know you're making 500000 either way, big deal. Winner gets 500k and loser gets 500k. So whenever it got off the 50/50 splits is where the sport became moreso a business.
The core of the issue is the 0% PPV. If this was your average network station fight then that is all that will be split, is the purse. But this being a PPV fight , they also have to negotiate how the PPV money is to be split. In this case none.
Floyd Oscar was not no damn 50/50. Oscar Manny was not 50/50. Oscar Hopkins was not 50/50 you can keep going with Oscar there is a reason for that
I think what Floyd is failing to realize is, even with a 50/50 split, he'll go home with more money. His argument isn't about ppv. It's about how much money he makes, but he'd still make more than Manny because of his contract vs Manny's contract with the promotion companies
I'm pretty sure Leonard got the bigger splits on all his big fights, except for Hagler (he instead opted for other things in his favor).
you're welcome. just did a quick google search. it was just from my memory and some posters in ESB that i knew about this info.
