In the wake of Timmy's solid performance against Marquez, his next year or two is pretty well spoken for with high quality fights. Arum has quietly put together a six man welterweight tournament and Bradley has locked up the #2 seed. Here is how I see his future options: Bradley fights the winner of Provo-Alvarado (Marquez fights the loser) If Pacquiao beats Rios, he gets an automatic"bye" to the final,as it were. If Bradley beats the winner of Provo-alvarado and Pacquiao wins as well, then Bradley rematches Pac in the final, with the winner of Alvarado-Marquez going on to face Rios. Now if Pacquiao loses to Rios, I can see Arum immediately matching Bradley and Rios in an unofficial "pacquiao beaters" tournament final, with Pacquiao retiring or fighting Alvarado and Provo fighting Marquez. If Bradley manages to "win" the tournament depending on where he is with his contract, I can see him go independent and angle for a 2015 Mayweather fight or re-sign and go after Cotto at 154, assuming he fails in his bid to take Sergio's middleweight crown and opts to continue at 154. Assuming Bradley accomplishes all of that, even beating Cotto at 154, which I believe are all winnable fights for Timmy at the time the fights would presumably take place, there is no way Mayweather would look past him. And by late 2015/early 2016, even Mayweather will be a winnable fight. I see an exciting future ahead for Bradley and a fairly doable path to the very top of the P4P rankings.
If he goes to GBP he has Ortiz, Thruman, Broner, Maidana, Garcia, Berto, Matty, Judah, Alexader(rematch),Paulie, Peterson(rematch), Frankie gomez, Sotto Karass, Khan, And MAYWEATHER
Would love to see Bradley jump ship and go to GBP, lots of good fights for him (Floyd, Garcia, Matthysse, Khan etc.)
But that's just it -Bradley doesn't have to leave Top Rank to have at least two years worth of good, high-profile, and WINNABLE fights. Because of how awesome their fight was, both Rios and Alvarado are higher profile than any Golden Boy welterweight except Browner. Theres no question Golden Boy has more talent at welter, but Top Rank has a great formula for Timmy: come forward, all action fighters who, like Bradley, came from lower weights. They are all competitive fights but with Timmy the favourite for all of them. There is a clearer path for Bradley through Top Rank than the shark tank of GBP. He should definitely stick with them for the next couple of years.
In fact, I would say it is better for Bradley's career to stay with Top Rank. GBP knows that Timmy has no fan base, so would immediately match him tough to build up a fighter they are trying to sell to the public. I can see him being thrown in against Broner or Garcia his first fight out, which would be extremely difficult fights for him. And if he loses, his stock and earning power would plummet. There would be no incentive for any high earning fighter to take him on. With Top Rank, he has a clear path to high earners who he has a much better chance of beating. Like Pacquiao and Cotto. And with Arums stable of welterweights aging, Arum would take much better care of Bradley than GBP would.
True. But boxing is a business too. If Bradley loses any one of those fights, he will be effectively done. A Pacquiao rematch is more money, more winnable, and higher profile than the likes of Broner or Garcia.
Broner is **** Garcia has zero talent Alexander he's beat Matthyse would be a good fight, which he would win Pacquiao is the best fight he can make because floyd doesn't like getting hurt, and Bradley could avenge his loss to a faded PAC
you mean Bradley would be matched in fights he'd have a better chance of winning then actually being matched against fighter he could possibly lose to. no way Bradley go through golden boy stable with out a few losses. he goes 36-0 against TR lack of stable
No one in golden boy beats him Mayweather is his own man, Bradley has made a career winning as the underdog
Future is indeed bright. I think many of the fights you have listed are winnable for him at this stage of his career. Lots of money potential ahead.
None taken. I hate that line of thinking too. But its both realistic and wise. If the business of boxing dictates that an unpopular fighter won't get fights unless he closes all escape routes, as soon as he loses, all the escape routes open. Bradley's management probably understands that, and to prevent that from happening, they have to match him wisely. Now wisely doesn't have to mean putting him in against cans; that's actually unwise. Wise is against high margin fighters who arent gimmies, but who are also not massive risks. The entire Top Rank welterweight stable encompasses that. Why should Bradley give up that edge to be a perpetual B-side for GBP's Murderers Row? If Bradley emerges from the "tournament" with his 0 intact, he can dictate terms to Top Rank, or opt out and challenge Floyd. Or, if the welterweight division remains hot in 2015, he could at least command enough respect to sign with GBP as an A-side.
