    Great fight.

I'm picking Ambers by general work-rate. Interested to see what everyone else thinks.

Arguello stops Lou in 11 on cuts, with Lou ahead on points at the time of the stoppage.

Cool. Works for me. I think Lou is very, very underrated on this forum. I'd honestly pick him over Pacquiao and Marquez of today's stars and think he'd have a good fight with Mayweather. Great fighter.

I think Arguello would be too much for Ambers, whose lack of power would be a big handicap in this fight (and in most other hypothetical fights against ATGs IMO).

I'd expect Ambers to win. by decision
with his combination of skills, durability and a busy workrate.

Arguello would expose Ambers low hands in this 1, I see him scoring a KO

Few champions fighting out of the orthodox stance had the premier quality left uppercut Ambers possessed, but Arguello was one of them. (The Nicaraguan didn't usually rake opponents over the coals with multiples of it like the Herkimer Hurricane did though, using it almost like a jab at times.)

Watching the economically masterful job a past prime Canzi did in winning his final title over Lou, I just can't see the energy and vitality of Ambers prevailing over such a marksman as Alexis. The height, reach and sharpshooting of Arguello would be too much for Lou's mobility to prevail against over the championship distance at range. Alexis would box for the decision, and he was perfectly capable of inserting a few knockdowns along the way to help clinch it. Peak Ambers too tough to be stopped though.

Interested to know what Mr. Bienstock would say about Ambers-Arguello, as Alexis is one of the 1970s and 1980s boxing icons he's spoken highly of.

As for my own regard for Ambers, here's what I had to say about him in a thread Burt created (and no doubt well remembers) last February:
