It clearly states in most boxing contracts that if you pull some BS like this, the purse could be withheld.

Tor Hamer won the first two rounds, but Any's punches finally caught up with him. The referee stopped the fight and Tor's corner, actually it was Tor's corner, whatever, he really tried. He could be a good fighter if he could get a better trainer. He is good for the first couple rounds, really good...............

This is the first time I have see Andy Ruiz fight. He is fat, but don't let his body fool you..............he looks good, I think the best American fighter.................

They should withhold the purse of whoever made the decision to put that **** bag fight on the under card of such a high profile fight in the first place.

    True.

Hamer told his cornerman he was finished, and to stop the fight. He wasn't badly hurt, and may have been ahead 2 rounds to 1 on the scorecards. He hadn't been taking a bad beating, he just lost heart.

In contrast, Billy Dib was taking a severe beating round after round, yet never quit (his corner told the ref to stop the fight during a round).

Tor Hamer's purse should definitely be withheld.

Ill never support the purse being withheld of any fighter who feels hes had enough and retires early.

Hamer did well in the first 2 rounds kind of exposed Ruiz Jr a bit. He was clearly hurt in the 3rd and seemed to wobble back to his corner at the end of the 3rd but we've seen plenty of fighters in a much worse state continue.

This is the 2nd time we've seen Hamer quit on the stool after having a bad round in a fight he was competitive in, so his purse should definitely be held. The guy just doesn't seem to have any heart, any adversity and his reaction is to quit. A real shame he has some decent skills his combination punching against Ruiz Jr was impressive.

True but he had no reason to quit. It was one though round and thats it. He didn't even get hurt bad and it was the third round. He quit because he has no heart for a though sport like this.

and that he quit will hurt his future earnings, and will also hurt his chances of being selected as an opponent for any major fighter in the future.

But I just cant support a fighter getting his purse withheld like that.

He trained for weeks, he went in there, went at it hard for a few rounds, and then Ruiz started to bust him a bit and he felt out of his depth and quit before he took too much punishment. I dont like it, and he will get a big backlash in the sport for it, and all the other **** that comes from quitting in boxing.... but not getting his paycheck I just cant condone.

Its also a very blurry line. At what point is a quit job anacceptable that your promoter can withhold the purse? In whose interpretation is 'enough enough' and they will still pay a fighter that quit?

nah.... too murky, and just not right.

His punishment will be the backlash he gets in boxing and from the fans, and will come out of his future earnings. But I am against him not getting paid for the fight.

Is there any strange betting on the fight, aka big money on 4th round.
