Whats the story with this guy ? he signs up fighters and they dont get fights , he was said to be a promoter who really looked after his stable but that does'nt appear to be the case
I'm not sure which fighters you're referring to, but it's hard to get people big fights win they lose fights they're supposed to win(Oosthuizen, DelValle). Lou is as fair as they come, but he can't conjure stars out of thin air.
Well boxing is'nt just about big fights and stars , without the small shows and domestic fights there is no elite fighters Lou marketed himself as the guy that cared about the smaller shows and getting fighters fights , however it appears he does'nt live up to his promise
McEwan? You mean the guy that just lost a six rounder to a nobody? Promoters don't have time to babysit professionals. I know that he's changed trainers a few times but that's no excuse for losing to a guy that was basically handpicked for him.
Promoters can get fights, but they cant win the fights for you. If you cant win fights, you are probably not going to get the fights you were hoping for. If you win fights, or can at least look good in high level fights then Lou will find a good fight for you. Lou is one of the better promoters, not sure why he would get hate.
True , but you dont just walk away from a fighter after one defeat , McEwan needed a bit more support than he got , he signed with DiBella yet he is'nt even listed on their promotional site WTF ! Remember the boxers are not on pay when not fighting so if Dibella is'nt interested he should let McEwan go
In April 2013 he signed a four-fight deal with New York based promoter, Lou DiBella. In December 2013 he lost a Unanimous Decision to American Dashon Johnson in New York. McEwan cited lack of support from his promoter & proper preparation following an extended absense from the ring, even struggling to organise sparring partners prior to the fight. So in 1 year he's had two fights , one he organised himself ! Lou DiBella has been hopeless as a promoter !
Lou was doing OK a year or so back. Right now he has Martinez, Macklin, Lee, Charile Ohta, Mora and a punch of others but most are coming off losses so no wonder hes fading. Sergio Mora seemed happy with him.
Is fringe middleweight contender Avtandil Khurtsitze with Lou? Dont seem to hear much of him anymore.
Craig McEwan lost in the first round of Prizefighter a couple of years back then recently lost a 6 rounder, it's his lack of skills not lack of support from his promotor. Lou got Edwin Rodriguez the Andre Ward fight.
He signed with Lou and hasn't fought again... EDIT - Just read a Georgian interview with him from a year ago saying his layoff was due to him getting out of his previous contract and that he signed with Dibella and is really excited to get back into the ring, yet nothing. Someone tweet Lou and ask..
