I though he was right to tell taylor to finish strong. the fight was close. Look what happened to pernell whitaker 3 years later when he took it easy against jcc? Look what happened to odlh against TITO? Lewis against Holyfield? When you are fighting the star, you have to finsih strong (most of the time)
I didn't always care for his loud crude personality on television, but it doesn't change the fact that the man trained more than his share of all time greats. He was truly a great trainer/manager.
Regarding his long term career Duva would have been spot on, from the time Futch teamed up with with Bowe up until the last of Bowe's fights against Holyfield he was more often than not in good shape and motivated for fights. Once Bowe and Futch fell out, this coupled with Riddick's own shortcomings and bad living led to his decline as a top class fighter.
