All these Cheese Burger theories sound great on the internet, but why can't anybody make them work in the real world of boxing? :huh

You know jumping is plyometrics right?

and that he actually specifically mentioned 'weightlifters', the term used to describe guys who clean+jerk etc.?

    Do this one 10 punches/ 10 burpee's
    9 punches/ 9 burpee's
    8 punches/ 8 burpees
and so on down to one-

Once your fit should take 2:20ish... Finish the round in an exhausted state trying to keep your **** together. Good drill.

That's the first time I've heard someone describe setting up with the jab as a stretch reflex.

The stretch reflex definitely enables you to lift more weight explosively. They could be right in saying that it may also enable you to punch with increased power.

Hmmm, they might be onto something here.

I hate those drills too. But you gotta do 'em.

Great drill, positively exhausting(done it several times), but will not improve explosive power, nor will the videos posted.

Whenever I see people doing plyos, instead of working on generating power they get pre-occupied with working on their endurance instead.

Come to think of it, I do the same.

Plyometrics for the purpose of building explosive power are supposed to be done in low-rep sets. Doing them in circuits is exhausting and great for conditioning, but doesn't really aid power generation.

I also don't buy the stretch reflex theory on power. Anything added by it would be dwarfed in significance by proper weight distribution and core strength.

Actually it's the reason I left my old gym, he would get you a hell of a workout.. but we never learned anything technical.
