This came up in the Floyd vs. Walcott thread, and I wanted to get some opinions on this. Would the best version of Floyd do better against that Louis than Walcott did or would it go worse for him?

I'm about 70-30 in favor of Louis, but Floyd's hand speed might allow him to pull a Paquio-De La Hoya on this version of Joe.
(I think that fight perhaps shows how a relatively slight decline can make a HUGE difference against world class opposition.)

Why not? Prime Patterson could quite possibly do better against Louis than virtually any of Louis's opponents at any time in Louis' career...At the end of the day, I probably wouldn't pick Patterson to win but I wouldn't be shocked if he pulled it off.

Patterson may do it ,I believe he'd drop Joe and his hand speed problematic for him. I'd be concerned about Louis nailing him though as he did Walcott. Can't rule out Floyd's chances.
