How far up does The great Brown Bomber go, if he'd turned pro around the same time as Frazier?
Does the Frazier, Foreman and Ali line up change in the 70 s?

I think he would've beaten all of them. I could see Ali pulling an upset though.

Ali becomes another member of the bum of the month club....Frazier takes the place of Schmeling I....and II. Louis controls the belt until age and Holmes come along.

Beats 70s Ali, loses to FOTC Frazier and then wins a rematch.
Loses to Foreman, then after Ali beats Foreman, Louis does as well.

    Holmes beats an old Louis.

This seems as likely as anything. He can't be discounted but nobody is coming thru the top 4 guys unscathed.

Louis was the most highly skilled of all heavyweight champions. He would decimate the contenders of the day. Only Ali via boxing skill, speed and toughness would defeat him.

Would have loved to see Louis in that era, I imagine he would still be very successful, could see him knocking out Patterson, Henry cooper, buster Mathis, Ellis, mac foster, Bob foster, and wepner.

Could see him beating quarry, chuvalo, bonavena and Norton

Against the big 3 of those days
Joe Louis vs mohhamed Ali would be all wrong for Joe, despite what Louis said he struggled against fleet footed technicians and busted up pressure fighters. Ali would win by knock out probably mid rounds.

Joe Louis vs Frazier I think Louis was accurate enough to be able to handle Frazier's insane head movement and pour on some killer combinations once he does, this is a fight either man could go down and I think it would be competitive and interesting to see the best right cross of all time vs the best left hook of all time, if fotc Frazier showed up I'd give him the edge here but Frazier from every other fight I'd lean towards Louis. Great fight.

Joe Louis vs George foreman my God. Louis was giant slayer and did best against big punching juggernaughts like foreman, but never came across a juggernaut foreman's level, Louis definitely hits the deck at some point, not sure if foreman does but if Louis can survive the early rounds and time foreman than he might score a knock out in the championship rounds, then again when your talking about foreman he can always blow anyone out of the game early.

So, Galento and Braddock can bounce him off the canvas. What if George does the same? What is Shavers lands a right on him?

I agree that Louis was an immaculate fighter but in the 1970's he comes back to the pack a bit compared to the free-swinging breadliners he fought in his day.

Don't see him surviving Frazier & especially Foreman, his chin just wouldn't hold up.

The king of truth twisting arrives!

Foreman was knocked out by Ali. He was knocked down by feather fisted Jimmy Young. Louis best punch was his right hand and guess what punch Foreman was wide open for? Louis sidesteps, luring Foreman into his combinations and once hurt would go in for the kill.

I rate Foreman very highly but he was wide open for the power punches of boxing’s most destructive punchers.
