Like I said, I've only heard rumors that Louis said it in his autobiography, since I haven't read it yet.

"But Borchuk[Delaney,] was tough. At the end of the third round, I was very discouraged.he hit me so hard,he chipped one of my back teeth.I beat him but I was very lucky to have won the fight."

That doesn't say that he was the hardest puncher though. I'm going to go by what Marciano (who's an extremely credible source, unlike, say, Foreman), over hearsay, though said hearsay has some credibility.

He didnt say it in his autobiography I have it on my desk in front of me as I type this ,I ve never seen a verified quote by Louis in which he states Marciano hit him the hardest. And you havent produced one.All you have is hearsay.
I've seen verified quotes from Archie Moore and Don Cokkell that Marciano was not the hardest puncher they fought though.

I've debunked the Archie Moore claim, and I'm not surprised by the Cockell one. Marciano came in off and had a bad performance, by his own admittance.

Mine isn't hearsay considering the fact that Marciano himself said it, and again, I'm willing to believe it

How have you debunked the Moore claim?
You being willing to believe something doesn't make it a fact.
You've made a thread titled Louis says Marciano hit him the hardest and its untrue

I require a quote from Louis to that effect to make it credible , you haven't provided one and you won't, because there isn't one out there to be produced!
Marciano said he hit Cokkell as hard as he hit anyone and that , "my best punches didn't seem to affect him" .How is that explained away by you saying he had a bad night?
Your thread is just so much click bait.

Archie Moore (KO'd in 9th), when asked by reporters which of Marciano's punches hurt him, said, "Man they all hurt."
He also said, "After a fight with Marciano, it felt like you had been beat all over the upper body with a blackjack or hit with rocks."
"He could hurt you, sure, but it was the quantity of his punches. He just had more stamina than anyone else in those days. He was like a bull with gloves."

Roland LaStarza "I would throw a hard punch, then he would throw a hard punch. The difference was that Rocky would throw 10 more. He just never stopped throwing punches."

Harry "Kid" Matthews "He was a great puncher, one of the best of all-time. He just threw one punch after another, and all of them were hard."

"Dan, I can still feel his punches. He kept punching me in the upper arms until I could no longer hold them up to defend or throw punches". Phil Muscato, 5th round KO victim of Rocky, to his nephew Dan, many years after his fight with Marciano.(Thanks to Dan Muscato).

Bernie Reynolds (1952 opponent) "He had amazing strength. Any time Marciano hit you, he could hurt you. He didn't do much flicking; every punch was a knockout punch."

I believe him I guess Max Baer must have not landed clean sometimes fighters mention guys for power and its surprising. Toney said Sosa was the hardest puncher and Yori Boy Campas said Jose Luis Lopez was the most skilled and biggest puncher by a margin apparently well above Trinidad, Oscar or Vargas. Even Jack Johson said Joe Choynski was the hardest puncher and he fought men much larger then him. Marciano's power was definitely impressive.

    "They're gonna start saying I can't punch"

He came in at 189 when his prime fighting weight was 184-185, and the pressure to retire (ex. Back issues, Wiell), were all peaking. Read Undefeated by Mike Stanton for more on it

I debunked the Moore claim a long time ago on an older thread if you care enough. Moore is less trustworthy than Foreman lol

Marciano was only O.75lbs under 189lbs when he ko'd Moore.
Only 2lbs under it when he ko'd Charles
Only 1.5lbs under it when he ko'd Mathews
Marciano had no back issues going into the Cokkell fight,it was a gimmee to test out his repaired nose.
Your statement is not borne out by the facts.

If Moore had said Marciano was the greatest fighter he ever fought, I'm certain you would have no problem accepting it as gospel truth!

Didn't Moore always say Curtis Sheppard was the hardest puncher he faced I've read a lot of ppl spoke highly of his power. I know Charles said Satterfield hit harder then Rocky.

I would accept it, because it's true (with the acception of Ali), though i'd still say he's a bad source

"Marciano training for Archie Moore, Charlie Goldman worried Marciano was losing his edge" -Undefeated

I have a hard time accepting the fact that a 24pct KO record against opponents Delaney hit harder then Marciano. If Rocky heard it straight from Joe then I believe it. It’s def not a stretch for the guy with the highest HW champion KO percentage hit hard. i suppose quantity plus hard punches is a factor but either way the other guys obviously weren’t as skilled if they couldn’t finish the job.

Moore's comment is suspect as ****, Lloyd Marshall (51% win to knockout ratio, with only 1 coming in the first round) toooootally hits harder than Marciano, right?

Just like how Marciano toooootally got an 8 count during their fight
