Welp, I was dragged down and beaten with experience, sorry to fail you Mark Twain...

My intention never was clickbait, sorry if it comes off that way. You're contradicting what was said in Unbeaten by Mike Stanton, someone who met multiple of the Marchegianos and key people in Marciano's upbringing. It states that Marciano hated Jim Norris, and that Weill order him to lead everyone to thinking he wasn't gonna retire. You yourself aren't the greatest source, still think that I'm Reznick's side account?

So, let me get this clearly. Rocky punched hard. Is that it?

Well, golly. I always thought his clever ringcraft and dynamic athleticism carried him thru fights.

The AARP wanted him for a Hate Crime he knocked over so many Seniors. I'm sure Rocky hit hard enough to get the job done but above all he was a furious attrition puncher. He didn't take any punches off, no space fillers, no buying time, always in pursuit of the KO, a total grinder.

But let's be real. He was a circuit club fighter for the majority of his career. When he rose to the elite of the day, there wasn't really much around but a handful of geriatrics trying to hang on past their pull dates in hopes for a pay day and some less than stellar white hype jobs.

And then he was gone as quickly as he had arrived. 4 years on the radar. Not a strapping young contender in the bunch. A sample size composed of smaller, older fighters and guys who wouldn't be a footnote in other eras.

White hopes? Damn didnt know you were a racist on top of being an ignoramus.

Anyways Marciano fought plenty of big men. Literally debunked your point in my heavyweight averages list, in which Marciano's opponents were bigger than guys like Jack Johnson's, Joe Louis's, etc.

Marciano's era were filled with young black guys like Bob Baker, Bob Satterfield and Nino Valdes if that's your thing. But they weren't as good as the old guys. Marciano himself fought a young, athletic 6'2" 200+lbs black guy in his amateur career.

Walcott was in his prime, Charles was in his prime in the first fight. Archie was a bit past it and Louis was a shadow of himself but that still doesn't excuse what you said. Ezzard was young. Rex Layne was young. Carmine Vingo was young. LaStarza was young. Cockell was young. Shkor was young. Savold was only 35.

So no. Marciano fought 3 old men (Walcott, Moore and Louis), and fought plenty of young, strong, big men. He just hit harder, had better stamina, had an granite chin, and a will to win above all else.

    His opponents averaged:
    29.8 years of age
    6'1" height
193lbs (keep in mind even Ali's and Louis's opponents averaged 190s)

He was a club fighter early on because he had no trainer, no money, and barely any amateur career. He needed experience. He didn't have the luxury of someone like Ray Robinson or Ali, who had extensive amateur careers, and therefore spent longer at the club level

Then developed back issues, had his trainer steal from it, and didn't care about boxing. He got out before he got injured

You didn't fail me you failed yourself.
From what I've read of Rocky's family I wouldn't give them much credence or respect.I think his Brother acted disgustingly at Larry Holmes post fight press conference after the Spinks fight and I don't for one second believe the numbers of miles he said Rocky put in daily on the road.Did you know they lit candles praying for a Spinks victory and gate-crashed the press conferences making the fight all about the Marciano's?
Very classy. You should read George Kimball's take on them, thats if you even know who he is which I doubt.

Hating Jim Norris didn't stop Marciano from trying to reach an under the counter deal with him, he had two meetings with him trying to set something up,something else you didn't know.
    Money was Marciano's God.
My sources are Joe Louis,Skehan's,and Sullivan's books book and Archie Moore,Don Cokkel and Peter Wilson. Your total info comes from one book that hasn't exactly had the best of reviews!
No you aren't Reznik, you're not up to his speed. You quickly resort to the personal stuff like him but you haven't got any real knowledge, nor have you done any research worth a ****.

N.B. I haven't got dementia yet proven by the fact I can still spell it correctly, unlike yourself. You're just a smug kid who knows jack ****.

Before I tear thru the rest of your sh*t storm of stupidity let me address the above.

    1) white hope is not a racist term

    2) I did not use the term white hope.

White hope is definitely a racist term, it implies that white people aren't as good at boxing. It was created by Jack Johnson to imply that no white fighter could ever beat him.

White hype job is just as bad, if not worse

I dunno why I don't ignore you and mcvey like 99% of the forum does

Marciano never fought a prime big guy who was top class. Charles had nearly a hundred fights on his clock and his best weight was at light heavy.
Moore had 176 fights under his belt when he fought Marciano and his Mother said he was 40 years old.
He himself admitted his legs were gone by the time he challenged Marciano.
Vingo was a string bean novice.
Lastarza was a very carefully matched and managed fighter who lacked power.
    ShKor was a club fighter.
Layne had a porous defence and was pretty slow both a foot and with his hands.
Savold was a washed up fighter.
Marciano had the priceless benefit of being "connected" his manager was the MSG matchmaker for Christsake!
Weill also had close ties with Frankie Carbo.

The average weight of Marciano's challengers was lower than Johnson's [192lbs] and their average age was 32 years old.
You need to go away and do some real research before you come here calling me ignorant and Seamus an ignoramus.

And where'd you get that, considering marciano's average opponent was under 30 and 193lbs

I made a list calculated on my own from boxrec

    Mike Tyson: 71" reach
    Julian Jackson: 73" reach
    Joe Frazier: 73" reach
    Floyd Patterson: 71" reach

All well below the 76-77" average, and all hit like a mule
