is there a colour version of the fight available ?..this appears to be colour.. [ame]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-FQFuLoVpQw[/ame]
can't even begin to understand how there's a colour version of that... maybe these days it's possible to superimpose colour on old black and white footage?!
No, it's just sepia instead of black and white, but a nice effect. There's some colour footage of Joe doing exhibition boxing in the service, but I'm not sure how much colour footage of competitive boxing predates Robinson-Fullmer II in May 1957.
This is not color footage. As someone above stated it is sepia which sometimes gives the impression of color because RGB information bleeds into the image on video. Some footage of Louis has been colorized but this isnt it.
beautiful it doesnt matter what type of color correction it is. It looks good enough to pass as color footage. It even gives the clips of Louis a new feel to it. When im editing, some old fights are nearly impossible to do this with, and rarely some will be good. This is an example where it works real real well. Another example is the footage of Louis shadow boxing for a few seconds I color corrected myself in my top 20 video: 12:05 - 12:10 [ame]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9b0JlJ5jkP4[/ame]
Damn... some of those combos from Conn were beautiful... he's not too bad on the inside either. I really need to rewatch that fight.
I don't think, m8, tht color footage exists . they did change the color, using editing software. ESPN prob used "Final Cut", or "Sony Vegas", to change it and make it look different then black and white . that's not even in "real" color , its just a sephia effect tht they used.
So much talent in that ring. Testament to Louis to be in the ring with a guy who did everything better than him that night, and still seize his moment when it came to keep his title. That's what great fighters do.
