Let's say after beating Savold Brion and Bivings instead of fighting Marciano Joe went in against the new champ Walcott in early 52 who would win?
That would make it almost 4 years since there last fight that Louis won by ko, however he always struggled with Walcott and although in good form, had he declined enough for Walcott to win this time or does the Bomber prevail again?

Having watched Film of Bivins and Brion After they lost to Joe Louis I am inclined to believe Louis was a lot better than Rocky made him look. Rocky made good fighters look terrible and no doubt made bad fighters look good.

However, even if I don’t think Louis was so far over the hill as I previously thought, and he’s going in against a man he has already beat, joe still has to prove he can beat a man who flattened the guy who beat him. I don’t forget for one second that Charles thoroughly beat Louis and that Walcott (albeit at the third time of asking) knocked Charles as flat as a pancake.

I think a third Louis v Walcott would be a closer harder fight than most might think.. and I say that believing that this can only be understood by those who saw how good Brion and Bivins still were when Louis beat them.

I implore people to watch these films before deciding.

I think Louis and Walcott knew each other so well that the fight would actually be a complete snooze fest. Walcott would claim Louis and counter and Louis would chase him down, struggling to pull the trigger. In close fights champions get the benefit of the doubt. And Walcott would here.

    Jersey Joe by split decision.

I always thought that Walcott would have won the third fight of the series very decisively.

I just think that Louis went back a lot more than he did after their second encounter.

I've always picked Walcott, too. The third time, IMO, would have been the charm for Walcott.
