You think Louis would have shown more fancy movement in the ring if the whole race thing wasn't an issue?

Or do you think he would be the meticulous, pure function fighter he always was?

No, race has nothing to do with his style. In the end, why does he want to move? Why does he want to be on his toes? His whole thing is to trick, bring, or walk someone onto his punches, to what end would he dance?

Yeah, that makes sense. I think so many boxers are still inspired by Ali's flashy movement. And not enough boxers fight without superfluous movements.

Watch him move against Max Baer .. the decision was made for him to fight more flat footed but you see movement early in his career ..

Who said that Louis did not move with grace?
If I had seen only the four last seconds of this video I would be inclined to say that it was Ali or Ray Robinson....

I wish that Louis had continued to be as fleet as he was vs Baer...he looked FANTASTIC vs Maxie.

The small adjustment he made with his feet to land that left hook on Tony Galento to lift him off the floor....simple but brilliant.
