The best description of Jersey Joe Walcott is that he was a "midged"?

    really?

    Again...

He got him back in a rematch against one of the best technical boxers of all time. A true master of tactics and ring generalship.

Watch Jersey move in the rematch and tell me what he does isn't art?

At the thought of Wladimir attempting the things that Jersey does. Not to mention the fact that this is completely irrelevant to a fight with Wlad which means you really are clueless about boxing.

Just the fact that you called Wlad "highly skilled" compared to Jersey Joe Walcott, one of the most skilled fighters of all time should mean that you have to retire from the forum.

Wlad can't even master the uppercut. A basic punch in a fighters arsenal, yet you compare him to Jersey Joe Walcott?

Wladis probably the fest tall HW (6'5 and above) ever when it comes to control of range. To compare him with Carnera and others of a similar height is meaningless, none of these fighters perfected a style of controlling range. Nobody is invincible and Wlad's style could be broke, but it would take one or more of the following:

    blazing footwork plus handspeed

so much power that one shot can KO Wlad cold (never happened, Sanders hit pretty hard but Wlad beat the count four times, the idea that one punch does it against Wlad is pretty silly)

the same combination of height, power and skill as Wlad

I suggest that Ali, Tyson, Lewis, perhaps Foreman have one or more of these elements. I don't see Louis avoiding Wlad's punches, Schmeling, Braddock and others who are nowhere near Wlad in reach and power hit Louis flush. Those fighters wouldn't land a singel headshot on Wlad. If Louis had a superb chin, he could take one or two to get inside, perhaps, but he can't. He would be knocked down early in the fight. Give Wlad the small gloves of the Louis era and his power would be utterly devastating.

I don't care who Wlad lost to or was defeated by. I'm going with Louis because I don't think Wlad is on his level. All Wlad has on Louis is size and reach and that is the same things Carnara had. Louis puts Wlad down by bodyshot or even a right to the head. How can anyone not go Louis here?

Wladimir is not more skilled than Jersey Joe Walcott. JJW is one of the greater boxer-type HW's out there in terms of skills. His feints, footwork, and overall boxing skills are great. He was also a very strong puncher for his style to boot. There aren't many fighters with his particular style in HW history, he would give anyone fits and that's obvious if you're actually familiar with his style and career instead of calling him a midget like a dumbass.

And yes, Dempsey has a great chance to beat Wlad in his prime. Incredibly strong punching and inside game along with fast fast hands and feet pose the biggest problems to either Klit, especially Wlad with his bone china chin. If Sanders can wreck him, why can't one of the biggest punchers in boxing ever?

If a slow, flabby, low skilled 6ft 2" Samuel Peter could find his way to Wlad's chin and give him fits then why do people think it's impossible for someone who is the same height but with about 100 times more skill to pull off the win?

Actually the modern gloves have more impact than the smaller ones due to weight. :yep

Would you rather be hit upside the head with a 5lb pillow, or 5lb brick?
    It's not just about weight.
