Lovemore will always be that guy who acts as a stepping stone before facing someone else better. A guy that other top fighters love to have on their record, and poses a good "test" and step up before facing more elite competition. Guys like Witter, Cotto, Mitchell are good examples of top fighters who have beaten him. Lovemore will never cut it with the top welterweights, I think he doesn't have much left to be honest considering he's getting up there in age.
great fighter, carried on like a fool sometimes in interviews, and sounded a bit up himself but it could be all for the show only. might be different in private i don't know.
....the other Ndou looking for another bite at Lovemore: Time Bom Is Ticking Away Sowetan Live - 11 Aug 2010 - Bongani Magasela LOVEMORE "Black Panther" Ndou and Bongani "Cyclone" Mwelase have hardly exchanged blows but already Phillip "Time Bomb" Ndou wants to take on the winner. Lovemore will defend his IBO welterweight belt against Mwelase at Emperors Palace on September 18. The fight will be presented by Rodney Berman's Golden Gloves Promotions. Lovemore, who lives in Australia, his adopted country since 1995, will make a bid for a second defence. The 38-year-old veteran of 60 fights won the belt after defeating Phillip on a unanimous points decision on July 11. Lovemore and Phillip share a surname but are not related. Lovemore will defend against a young, fearless, skilful and capable boxer in Mwelase, a gold medallist at the Commonwealth Games, who has yet to taste defeat after 14 wins, 12 of them short-route victories. The sensational lanky 27-year-old Sowetan, whose skills are honed by Johnny du Plooy, has already held the SA, WBC International and WBF welterweight and junior middleweight straps since he turned professional in 2006. Boxing fans who have been short-changed about the quality of opponents for Mwelase, will see him in a real match against Lovemore. Lovemore is a former IBF junior welterweight titlist who boasts 47 wins (31 KOs), 11 losses and two draws. He will bring the best out in Mwelase. This boxing match has the potential to be the fight of the year and the winner will not have to look far for an opponent, with Phillip waiting in the wings. "I prefer that Lovemore wins because I have an axe to grind with him. I was not fit in our fight. I am back with my trainer Nick Durandt who knows how to get me into shape. I will beat Lovemore," he said angrily. "But if Bongani defeats him, then bring it on. Our fight will fill any arena in the country." One local shootout that still lingers in fight fans' minds is the Phillip Ndou-Cassius Baloyi fight that took place at Carnival City on November 3 2001. Dubbed "Fire and Ice" by promoter Berman, that fight attracted more than 5000 people. It was a no-holds barred affair. They went at each other from the first round until the 12th but Ndou dished out the most damaging blows. He outpointed Baloyi for the WBU super featherweight title.
I heard the Trash talking from this Bongani guy and it was pretty full on from a young fella to an old Veteran. I also read that Lovemore was not happy that bongani's coach calls him "boy" in between rounds and in training. Not sure if his coach relises how rasist that is coming from a Caucasian man to a young African fighter.
good to see lovemore still picking up pay days, think he only talks because its the only way he can get coverage, imagine he was quiet do you seriously think he would of got anywhere near the opportunities he got? hatton & ndou in his last couple fights would of been decent paying you would feel, wonder if anyone knows?
agreed but hes someone on the rise, and massive puncher exactly what lovemore dont need at this stage dont think his punch resistance is the same as it was a few years back!
there going to show ndou but avoid showing other fighters that are prob more worthy? dumb decision if true, i dont think ndou would sell well at all
