Drakulich calls the punch by Khan on Judah a clean shot which turns into a KO. Six days later the punch thrown by Miranda is called a low blow by Drakulich and a point is deducted. Which is the right call?

They both were low. Being unbiased...if your eyes are in working condition, you can detail they both were low and illegal. At the end of the day, Khan won the fight via KO. Was it the right call? No, it was not. The ref called it a KO, the fight ended, everyone went home and that is the history. However, it was a low blow.

I truly believe, after watching multiple replays, and revisiting the issue more than once, that Khans shot skimmed Judah's trunks below the belt but made no contact with Judah's body until the shot landed on the belt. That might be illegal technically (I cannot find any info on where the shot is counted as illegal if no bodily contact is actually made, i.e. hitting loose shorts..). That means that I think that the punch that Judah felt was legal, but the preceding skimming shot that most likely hit is shorts, and not his body, may technically be labelled as illegal. Either way, I believe it was against the spirit of sportsmanship, especially in boxing, to feign a low blow, so in my eyes the right result occured.

easy to clear up the arguement....where's the belly button on each man who is getting hit? If it's aligned or slightly below the bellybutton then it's legal....the problem nowadays is that boxers cover their belly buttons and it gives them a case to argue for borderline shots.

khan was holding Judah's head down. should have been a foul and disqualification

however, im glad Vic didnt call it.

Judah is a ***** and deserved to get punched in the nuts (which he didnt).

Miranda punched low with his right hand, not his left.

Both of the punches clearly below the belt line.

When Khan and Judah touched gloves before the fight, Drakulich said fights below "here" will be low. When he said "here," he held his hands parallel to the floor directly along the top of both Khan and Judah's belt line. Khan's punch landed clearly below that belt line, in addition to him putting downward pressure on Judah's neck. Judah should have gotten 5 minutes and the fight resumed.

Khan clearly low blowed Judah. Don't take it the wrong way; Judah was clearly beaten down and en route to a legitimate knockout defeat. Khan won by KO no doubt, but it certainly is a misleading "KO" on the resume.

Miranda is known for fouling including low blows, Khan is not.

Which makes no difference in determining whether or not these two shots were actually low. :patsch

The defendant, a murder suspect has no reputation for it your honor.

    Well then, not guilty.

Unfortunately the ref has so much discretion in making the calls and deciding from either ignoring them to a disqualification. What is so bizarre in these two cases is that the same ref took the two extremes. In Khan's case he ignored it and let it be go as a KO. 6 days later almost the exact punch is called low and a point is immediately deducted, ultimately resulting in Miranda being too quickly DQ's from the fight.

It is unfortunate that fights are decided this way. Another ref in the same situation and we could have had very different results, at least in the second fight.

That is not the shot that Miranda landed that was called low. The shot landed alot lower than the shot Khan landed. Howerver I do not like the fact that Vic took a point right away with the first low blow. Give him a stern warning first.

Legal or not, Judah clearly tried to milk that blow for a point.

Pisses me off when fighters do that, like when Allan Green cried about getting KD'd by Johnson
