there were like 10 low blows which is a lot, most of the ones on this video were on the belt line. now can we get a video of all the clinches loma did? i bet u there are way more than 10. more like 10 per round.

The problem with flopping is you leave yourself vulnerable... Or if you go down from a low blow you run the risk of the ref counting it as a KD, especially if you're dealing with an incompetent and/or corrupt ref like Cole.

That's why the Roberto Duran response would have been most appropriate given the situation. :smoke

Salido should have been DQ'd. What an inept job by the ref.

As far as clinches the idiots, and there are many, on this forum fail to see that Salido initiated most of those clinches, and that Lomachenko spent a lot of energy pushing Salido off the clinch. Salido dives in, hits below the belt then wraps the left around Lomachenko. As Lomachencko pushed him off, Salido throws a left hook. It happened OVER AND OVER again. The ignorance here is baffling.

Cole should never ref again. He saw 1/3 of those low blows and did nothing, not even a warning. Most incompetent ref in boxing.

No amount of clinches can justify the amount of low blows landed, unless you live in a warped reality. And it was Salido doing most of the clinching during the Championship rounds.

Almost all of the clinches happened because Salido was rushing right in, not because Lomachenko was hugging him. You want to make it out like Loma was clinching ala Wladimir, which is completely wrong. Salido rushed in and initiated those clinches knowing that he was a lot bigger than Loma and tried to make Loma tired. Then he would punch Loma while being in the clinch and Loma would try to neutralize that by holding, which is the only logical response in that situation. Referee was supposed to split the boxer each time they got into the clinch, but each time he would let them in the clinch and pushed Loma's arms down so he couldn't hold. Most of those low blows happened in those same clinches which was plain disgusting. Anyway, the clinches are allowed and are part of many boxers' tactics, while the low blows are simply braking the rules and should be sanctioned. I agree that Loma should have returned the favor, but going by the rules, this fight goes on referee's honor (which I doubt he has any). If Salido was warned after the very first low blow, and deducted a point after the second one (meaning that he would be disqualified if continued that any further) like he should have, he would have be either outboxed quite handily or disqualified. He could touch Loma from the outside and each time he threw a punch from mid-range, he would miss and Loma would score, while most of the "points" he scored came during the clinch and were shots to the body mixed up with low blows or borderline on the belt blows. Even though I expected more activity from Lomachenko, from my point of view this dirty fight can't be justified by any "veteran moves" "Loma should have fired low blows back" etc, because he was simply continually breaking the rules ala Andrew Golota. Hopefully Lomachenko learned the lesson as it would be very valuable for him if he learned how to despond to those "dirty tactics".

It was an ugly fight and there's plenty of blame to go around(excessive holding from Loma, too many low blows from Salido and bad officiating).

Anyone pointing fingers at just one person(either way) is a biased ****.:deal
