Pug, do you know anything about Barney Baker?

 

Not a lot other than he was an unsavoury associate of Liston’s at one time or another. Educate me brother.

 

Barney Baker was a 340-pound thug who worked as a leg breaker for the Teamsters Union under Jimmy Hoffa. There were times when he and Liston teamed up together to intimidate and/or rough up strikebreakers. Liston and Baker were known to have a mutual admiration society. Baker's name came up in a U.S. Senate committee investigation of organized crime. The committee's chief counsel was Bobby Kennedy, who cited Baker's propensity for threats and violence. Strangely, one of the last phone calls Jack Ruby made before killing Lee Oswald was to Barney Baker. The FBI and the Warren Commission questioned Baker about that call and his relationship to Ruby but didn't uncover anything relevant to the Kennedy assassination.
