LtHvy Champ MSpinks moves up against Hvy Champ Joe Frazier.

Is the result the same as Foster vs Joe Frazier?

Spinks was larger than Foster and more effective and carried his power up more effectively at heavyweight. That said, I think he could, if he maximized his movement, outbox Frazier for a few rounds. But sooner or later, Frazier catches up with him and mows him down.

Although, Frazier being essentially a 1 armed fighter would mean that Spinks would know that and would be moving away from that left hand. But, smart money is on the Smokin' One and I don't mean Bert Cooper.

Bad style matchup for Spinks. Although this isn't the crippled Spinks that fought Tyson, so I can see Spinks using his jab and movement and making it a tough fight for Frazier, but will land his left hook eventually and that would be the end for Spinks. A prime Leon before the drugs in my opinion would pose a tougher challenge for Frazier.

A prime Leon Spinks would attempt to trade with Fraizer, guaranteeing his Swift demise

Frazier has the perfect style to beat on smaller boxer types, because he's a swarmer, with more power then they have, with near unlimited energy to keep throwing punches. His feet were quick, and he could cut off the ring.

We sort of saw this fight ( Frazier vs Ellis ). Spinks might cause some problems, but I don't think he's durable enough to last, or hits hard enough to turn the tides.

Was Spinks crippled when he fought Tyson?

How would that have happened? He was unbeaten going into that fight.

I don't think Frazier would bang him out early like he did with Foster but i would still heavily favour Frazier to win by KO.

I think he'd do better than Foster because Foster, while an ATG light heavyweight plain sucked as a heavyweight and this in an era where
    A. The average heavyweight was 185 pounds, a whole, whopping 10 pounds above the light heavyweight limit and

    B. In an era where it was common for light heavies to regularly fight at heavyweight and light heavies like Archie Moore, Harold Johnson, Floyd Patterson, Ezzard Charles, Jimmy Bivins, Billy Conn, Joey Maxim had much more success as heavies than did Bob Foster. I believe that Spinks, especially at 200+ pounds would have approximately the same amount of success as the above named if he fought in that heavyweight era. And I also think that all of the above named would have suffered the same fate as did Spinks vs a young Mike Tyson on June 27, 1988.

Although, I think Foster's body build had a lot to do with his lack of heavyweight success. Moore, fighting at heavyweight could come in at a solid, sturdy 188 pounds while Foster at the same weight was a skinny, bony 188 pounds. Foster was too ectomorphic for heavyweight.

That said, I think Spinks could do as well as Ellis against Fraizer, much better than Foster, but I think Frazier would stop him

The result would be similar in my mind to Frazier vs Foster...however I don’t think Foster could duplicate Spinks performance against Holmes

Frazier was a tank in the Ellis & Foster fights. Spinks would have a tough time keeping Frazier off him.

He had two completely shot knees and came in a career high 212 lbs, since he didn't even bother to train for the fight. Michael just showed up for the $14 million payday, since he knew his fighting days were over. Michael's knees were already bad in the first Holmes fight, but they weren't shot. Michael was also coming off a year layoff in the Tyson fight. Not to mention Michael was stripped of his titles, since his physical condition and knees deteriorated a lot, since the second Holmes fight. The Michael Spinks that fought Tyson was similar to the Sergio Martinez that fought Cotto. Both were broken fighters showing up to collect a final purse.

IMO I don't think a Jinx comparison with Ellis vs. Joe is valid. Ellis IMO won the first round against Joe and may have drew the 2nd round (I may be one of the few that saw this fight as just as exciting as Frazier-Quarry 69)
IMO I don't think Michael could best Ellis pvp. Ellis earned my respect by rising, twice, after two brutal left hooks from Joe. The Jinx would have stayed down.
    My $0.02

I think they said Ellis threw 50 (?) or so right hands in the first couple of rounds against Frazier (2/16/70).
