Lucía Noelia Pérez vs. Gisela Noemi Luna, 4x2" rounds @ welterweight

 

Pérez, nicknamed "La Capitana" is making her pro debut and previously was, you guessed it, captain of the FAB women's national team. Her opponent, Gisela Noemi "La Emperatriz aka La Tigresa (Empress/Tigress)" Luna, is something of a gimme - winless in four bouts, with no real amateur background herself, and has been absent from the ring for just under 2 years now. Never been stopped...so unless Pérez packs serious heat, we're getting the full four rounds here. Oh well, at least they're only two minutes apiece.

 

Does the crowd even want this? Is one single person giving this guy any energy to feed off? I don't see any teenagers in the audience...just a bunch of adults worried about how much of their Sunday they're going to have to cut into sleeping in because of all these delays. Nearly 1am for them.

 

Oh good, somebody just updated the BoxRec page for the card...it seems about half the pro bouts were completed before Basile and his goons ran in.

Round 1

Pérez is getting her jab all up in Luna's face, marking her territory on the FAB logo center ring from the first bell. Jabs and overhands strung together by Pérez, grunting with each punch fired, very high-pitched and girlish sounding but she is physically imposing herself, so, can't argue with the results. Luna clinching for her life, occasionally stretching down a jab on the midriff but can barely get one halfway to landing before Pérez has beaned her with four or five off the dome. Counter right by Luna grazing just before the bell.

Round 2

Pérez is throwing 1-2s against the guard, still with that amateurish habit of barking and telegraphing literally every individual shot. Luna is covering up, absorbing them in bunche, and then responding with spearing rights up top. Pause to replace a gum shield. Luna now comes forward jabbing and swatting at Pérez's face with a right, but takes a few straight counters and goes to her knees, more off-balance than hurt. Pérez teeing off and landing with some 1-2s and then a hook on the nose that has Luna dancing on a single leg to stay upright, losing her footing almost completely and using the ropes to stay up, but the ref waves her off.
