    Thursday night fights...MMA

Lucas Brown took on 2 time American Olympic Wrestler Danniel Cormier for the MMA World Heavywieght Title.
Cormier absolutely demolished Lucas Brown, very quickly took him to the mat and and was all over him like a cheap suit. You could very easily tell Cormier is accomplished on the mat.
Once in control, Cormier puonded Lucas's head with heavy fist and elbows opening up a huge cut but ultimately rendered Lucas Brown helpless forcing the ref to cease the onesided punishment.
Didn't think Brown could have been destroyed so easily.

heard about this result might of been the other week?
if you havent got a good take down defense against a very good and accomplished wrestler its going to be a very short night unless you can land the money shot with them shooting in

Exactly the delima faced by James Toney on sunday.

If you haven't got the ground game you can't afford to go there.

Browne was probably pumped up on ocianic opponents, when he met a real cage fighter, was shown his vunrabilities,as where all the same size on the ground.

Exactly what i was thinking, Jim Toney should throw bombs from the opening second and try catch Randy off guard because his going for the takedown straight of the bat.

I work with someone whos related to brown and as i train mma in the same area have also heard from others that he doesnt do a whole lot of grappling/bjj training.

I guess when you blast people with your fists in under a round you dont think you need to work on other aspects of your mma game..From what i have been told by his relative Lucas is extremely dissapointed at suffering his first defeat in such a way and will be making all the required adjustments to become a more rounded mma fighter..

The bloke can bang thats forsure..But once you come up a bloke who can take you down you got to know how to react in a positive manner..Getting overwhelmed and GNP'D aint that..

I felt the same way but have mellowed over the last couple of years. I don't mind it but it will never come close to replacing boxing.

i kind of wish that there was a standing 8 count in mma like there is in boxing..because u get these guys who are great wrestlers and they trap both your arms and even if you not ko'd the ref stops it because you cant defend yourself..in this position i think it should be an 8 count.

It seems MMA fans have no problem with boxing and always show respect towards the sport and its history..But some boxing fans just seem to get there knickers in a twist over MMA for no real reason..I love both sports and believe both will thrive for a very longtime..No need to feel threatened by MMA..Because thats what it sounds like from the likes of SALLY and co.

Personally I'd like to see gouging in MMA as well as biting and headbutting.

i love boxing and love mma. I have trained in both and let me tell you a mma fighter with a strong wrestling back ground will smash a boxer. This will be proved tomorrow at ufc 118 and anyone who says there is no science in mma, have you ever had a grapple. Jiu jitsu is more technical then boxing will ever be. MMA is scientific as you said, one punch from a 4 oz glove and its lights out, so you better had a good formula.
