    Refs don't even have to start a ten count on a hard knockdown, you know... they can just wave it off without even bothering.

    Or they can stop in the middle of a count with the guy down, at 3, at 7, whatever.

    If they don't like what they see, they stop it. End of story.

    Ortiz spat out his gum shield and rode the count until after nine (eight is really when the red zone begins and you should at least be showing signs of getting ready to get up) and Esteves didn't like what he saw.

    End of story.
