Matthysse just hasn't been the same since the huge Danny Garcia fight. Hard fought closely contested wars with Provodnikov and Molina should never have ever happened for Lucas. I don't see a significant career revival happening now, either.
He should have hooked up with the Garcia clan. Lucas is unstoppable when he unleashed his body attack. He was beating Postol when he used it, then abandoned it and went strictly head hunting against the bigger man. Big no-no.
I really want to see Matthysse/Broner at 147, battle of the welterweight midgets. I will echo the majority view and say I can't see much glory ahead for Lucas at welterweight, why did he move up anyway? Struggling to make weight or chasing bigger money fights? It could be he is chasing Danny Garcia up in the hope he gets a chance to avenge the defeat which derailed him, Garcia/Matthysse 2 also sounds pretty good.
You dont need a trainer to throw a fight. He could just spare it, fake a knock out again and take the purse and the money of the hidden bets. As I have said, you dont need a trainer for that. He could hire guardiola anyway, he could teach him how to roll on the floor in a more credible way. But I understand it would be expensive, so if I were him, I would just spare my trainer.
