Its a good shout, but it then takes away the chance of a future Chino vs Lucas fight and that would make me a sad panda.
Don't think they'll ever fight each other anyway seen as their good friends, they're both just happy representing Argentina rather than taking on each other. But you never know, just feel that Lucas' corner let him down a little in the Garcia fight, they all told him he would KO Danny early and when it didn't happen their only plan was to send him out every round to knock Danny out, Robert would have done him much better in the corner.
Robert Garcia is a good trainer, but he's not a miracle worker. Had Madania lost, Garcia would've had a lousy year. Rios losing his fights, Donaire (who's looked like crap the last couple years), went 1-1, only Gradovich did well. Garcia didn't exactly have Pavlik looking all that great either.
garcia was not really maidana's first choice. he wanted to go to this other trainer but his star vetoed the idea.
Whatever.................but you have to agree that Maidana has improved in every way, he is awesome now..................
Let's not go over the top, Maidana has improved but he beat who jumped from lightweight and whose only had one fight at WW prior. There aren't many mainstream spanish speaking trainers for Lucas who are suited for his style.
They fought several times in the amateurs, including one closed doors fight to determine which of them would go to the 2004 Olympics qualifier tourney in Brazil. A fight between the two is unlikely any time soon, but it isn't out of the question in '15.
I agree with you, but Matthysse is pretty insular so there's no guarantee that he'd get along with a new trainer. There must be a rapport between the teacher and student for any progress to be made.
