I'm really looking forward to Imam's coming out party as the mandatory title defence for the winner of Matthysse-Postol. I think Matthysse will successfully defend against Postol and move on to face upcoming contender Imam. They say that Imam is a cross between Hearns (offence), and Mayweather (Defence), but the kid is still young and very much a work-in-progress. He seems to be getting better at each fight, and since he's with Don King, his competition is stepped up a little with each fight. Matthysse Versus Imam Who takes it???
I believe he's already the mandatory for the winner of Matthysse-Postol. You think Don King will avoid it?
I think so too. Imam has a very good jab and a huge reach advantage over Matthysse. He punches harder than Postol and his right hand is deadly. I think Matthysse will eat a lot of 1-2s early, and I don't think he can take too many of them.
Quite frankly just looking at his record I can tell his level of experience isnt quite up to scratch and throwing him in with someone as highly regarded as Lucas Matthysse is career suicide. Tony Harrisson is a prime example, very talented and good skills with an undefeated record (21-0, 18KO) before he got thrown in against Willie Nelson who was coming off a loss to Vanes Matiroysan . . . . keeping in mind Willie Nelson was a huge Light Middleweight at 6'3! Whilst I believed Harrisson gave a good account of himself and left me impressed at his effort he eventually succumb to the pressure and was stopped pretty badly Amir Imam hasnt beaten a noteworthy opponent at 140 as of yet and is not a Mandatory challenger as far as im aware and needs to before challenging Matthysse of all people, a guy who has tremendous natural punching power Thomas Dulorme, Henry Lundy, Mauricio Herrera, Jose Benavidez or even champions such as Cuenca or Allak.....that guy Broner is fighting would be fights to prove he can hang at this level. Top 2 guys in the division are Crawford/Matthysse who themselves are after big name fights preferably against each other. Wish the kid the best of luck but theres no need to throw him into the lions den just yet
Dulorme-Imam would be a good fight I'd like to see. I think he beats Lundy pretty easily, but TKO, and actually at 140 I think it beats Broner too. The kid is with Don King, and for good or bad, King always matches his fighters tough. :yep
