Find it kinda hard to believe this was 10 years ago. And I find it even harder to believe there still isn't a HD version of this fight. :dunno

Terrific slugfest. Anyone who hasn't watched should definitely watch it. Ring magazine's fight of the year. :chuck:

Can’t believe it’s already been 10 years. That was an awesome barnburner of a fight, which sadly gets overlooked nowadays.

Matthysse has been in a number of great fights and this was one of them. I do miss watching him fight. Such an exciting fighter.

We used to have so many grateful fights on regular HBO and showtime

Now everything is on 4 or 5 doffrence streaming servoes and it's hard to follow anything. There's no continuity.

That Provo, Matthysee, Molina, and Rios era was fun.

Don’t forget Alvarado, Khan and Maidana. Those guys always brought some fun fights.

Those two wasted no time putting it on each other. I remember that fight like it was yesterday

Matthysee had absolute dynamite in his hands, and Molina ate one bomb after another.

I still think Matthysee underachieved a bit overall. He would have annihilated Khan, however.

Not quite HD quality, but the version is much better on OK.Ru, for those unaware, it's basically Russian YouTube and a legal site.

That was a hell of a fight man, Molina wasn't very good but he always brought the heat.

This match along with Garcia-Herrera the same year, are actually the two main reasons I started posting on here. I was shouting to the rooftops to the small handful of people in my personal life that follow boxing that Herrera and Molina were going to give Danny and Lucas hell, and possibly pull off the upset, which was greeted with nothing but eyerolls. Well, who was laughing last?:sisi1 So yeah, I wanted a place to both brag and share my next level boxing knowledge with beyond my small circle of ignorant casual family and friends. So why not the place Id been frequenting as a guest for almost 6 years already? So not only should you be grateful for these two warriors putting on a FOTY candidate, but it's also what sealed the deal and gave me to all of you.:D

Still sad that we never got the chance to see Matthysse vs Maidana or Rios vs Provodnikov.

Great fight, but as a matthysse fan I knew things were starting to go down hill fast after being dropped and struggling a bit with molina (who I was also a fan of) . The danny garcia loss took a lot out of lucas.

Yea, he looked very tentative and unsure vs Provodnikov.
I honestly think Matthysse got the fight beaten out of him over the years.
At 147 he was clearly a shell of his former self.

Rios vs Provodnikov would have had to happen in 2012. After Rios beat Alvarado in their first fight he checked out. Any version after that gets battered.

Think he was just too small for 147. He took way more punishment against Danny than Prov or Molina. If I remember correctly those were pretty one sided.
