Just gave up when faced with his faced sustained beating, say what you want about *****s like Khan, broner etc as difficult as they make it to like them with their antics outside of the ring they have taking their beatings like men(wobbley leg men yes) but they have never taken a knee and just given up I see the eye excuses are out in full force already today
Yeah I guess having vision in his left eye for the rest of his life meant more to him than winning a friggin boxing match
You are not serious. You don't quit in a title fight because something popped in your eye. He could've got up there were two seconds. Go to his corner and evaluate the situation. He was either KOed either he quit. There is no middle ground and stupid excuses.
He's in his mid thirties. He managed to go 11 years without dropping too frequently (if at all) while fighting top tier boxers so there's that.
Lucas did quit, for what ever reason, but, considering what he has done over the years and the fact I am not a boxer, I am not going to judge him for it. There are far to many judgmental keyboard warriors on this site.
I'd say he was more frustrated by all the holding Postol was getting away with, even after Rees said next one would be a point. Postol went 2 rds without holding as much and Lucas nearly KHTFO, then after that, Rees started allowing the holding again and Lucas just said F it.....I can't win if I can throw hands inside, and I cant get inside without getting butted or grabbed.
I think what sealed the deal was his frustration to land anything meaningful. Matthysse had a simple game plan: to KO the guy. When it doesn't go that way he fails to improvise. The same thing happened with Garcia when he saw that Garcia was able to take his shots. He didn't box, he kept the same plan. It's a shame if he goes the Nonito way because he fell too much in love with his power. It would still be a challenge fighting someone that tall so let's remember that.
