Lucian Bute got exposed by Andre Ward's leftovers.

First of all, congratulations to Froch and his team for this nice performance.
I did expect him to win by stoppage (since I watched the first Bute - Andrade fight) but certainly not that early.
Bute's chin was once more exposed to the world as well as his really limited defensive skills. And by that I mean Froch did the job by putting pressure and hitting with both hands but he did it raw/wild style with punches that made him look like (to me) C level. We all saw how lost Carl was against more technical and composed guys like Ward and Direll who almost instantly knew what had to be done to win with minimum effort.
Carl put aside the technical side (even wonder if he ever had one) and just wanted to seek and destroy his way-before-the-fight-mentally-beaten opponent launching odd but none the less strong punches at the jaw.

I would like to add that I spent couple of hours before the Froch - Bute fight watching Marquez's (Juan Manuel and Rafael) bouts and thus may have my mind stuck at a much higher level of boxing exigence that Froch appeared like an amateur in my eyes.

 

Who am i to disagree with the way ward rolls.. One thing i will say is that the Win (0) in boxing is not the be all and end all. Ward can keep winning and getting my respect for doing so but I can guarantee that not many fans will ever tune into his fights cos they are predictably boring.. Boxing is also about excitement and puttting it on the line, fighters win fans and exposure that way and Ward doesn't look like he is interested in even trying to be as exciting as he is efficient.

Personally I give both men their dues, I think to an extent Bute was exposed but only becuase he was rated far too highly to begin with. He's still around the top 5 in the world.

I also think that the talk about his glass chin his ridiculous, he ate some absolute monster punches from Carl and didn't go down. I think that says it all. I also liked how he was gracious in defeat, I do like Bute I'm just a Froch fan first.

As for Carl that was just an absolutely incredible performance, maybe the finest of his career.

 

ROFL it's funny when some eat their own words, was expecting a close decision for Carl but this was much much better.

Ward still beats Froch and I hope it don't happen again.

Also Andre Dirrell runs against Bute, Anthony Dirrell beating St Juste does not merit being in these conversations.

 

lol Bute would still beat Andre Dirrell, probably by KTFO. Andre doesn't have it in him to put on a pressure fight like Bute or Andrade or the chin to hang with him. Andre's also the one top fighter at 168 who's more fragile than Bute, and he knows it.

Andre matches up horribly with Bute. Froch had the right recipe for beating Bute. Andre doesn't even have the right ingredients.

Anthony's got a better chance stylistically but he's faced worse guys than Bute has. If I were to bet on one of the Dirrells beating Bute, Anthony's the one.

 

Why the smear campaign, as soon as he had the chance to take a big fight, he grasped it with both hands but came up short, he tried to test himself and failed, no shame in that. Hopefully Bute can learn from this defeat and build again for the future. Ward sure as hell didnt have the stones to find out how good Bute really was...

 

It's disrespectful to call Froch "Ward's leftovers" after all he's done. I think he should be given some more credit than that.

 

Could not agree more, you would think that someone in that position would show a little bit more respect towards a warrior like Froch but also a solid champion like Lucian who couldnt find the extra level on the night.

Lets get ward tested, hes got that weird spaced out zoned out look in his eyes and hes drinking contes milkshakes, hes very high on the list of potential power pellet drinkers and implanters, no doubt

Froch should go for a unification with ward if he can get him in the uk where he would have a good shot at all the titles, with VADA testing of course

I dont think he should go back on his travels again, play it safe and get a few big fights at home, hes done his bit on the road
