    we'll see
I don't believe ward will stay at SMW because there isn't a lot there for him. that only leaves LHW...
for the record, if you combine the records of a kovalev, bute and a GGG, the best win you can pull from that isn't a patch on ward's super six wins

that's not meant to discredit any of the above, but its something to think about before calling them "ward's kryptonite"

I agree. Good post:good These A beats B, B beats c therefore A beats C people are using stupid logic and showing their lack of understanding. Ward can't do what Froch did to Bute. I think Ward makes it an ugly inside fight because he's better than Bute at that and gets the win that way. If he doesn't/is unable to do that it's a pretty even fight if Bute is gets back to his best.

That's weird because according to something I read onling, Bute weighed in at 169 for the LHW fight against Grachev.

He didn't suddenly become a bad fighter when Froch stopped him.He had beat some good fighters and was top drawer.Moved up straight after.Had he been having weight problems?Does anybody know?As it is,his only defeat was to a boxer whose only defeat was to one of the best in the world at any weight and IMO an ATG.I think he has a good chance of beating Pascal.

froch is not an ATG on any planet ( edit : my mistake, you weren't referring to froch)
hes never been the best in his division

like GGG, you cant give a fighter props until he fights the best in his division
bute has stepped up at SMW once, and he got nailed to the wall

I will contradict you by saying not necessarily. It depends on what Bute does from here. Manny Pacquiao, Mike Tyson, Lennox Lewis etc were all KO'd but are not considered a bunch of Jeff Lacy's (Lacies? idk, whatever).

Never bought Ward's excuse for not fighting him.

Agreed,at the very elite level. But have just checked his record.Among his victims is Brian Magee,a test for anyone who he stopped with a great body punch.Andrade,a very, very hard man who he KOd.Sakio Bika,a possibly even harder man who is now a world champion.Im British, and Froch is not my favourite fighter, although obviously Im quite proud of him.But if there WAS a rematch in Canada Im not sure what the result would be.Obviously would have to be light heavy which is one reason it won't happen. But I was asking if Bute had weight problems as this could have had a bearing.Over here they were saying how big he looked.I think he may be slightly over the top now,but possibly have enough to beat Pascal.Hold my beer, cheers! Its what made Milwaukee famous.

Agreed. Dude can redeem himself. I know I'm paraphrasing some ATG when I say: it ain't how many times you get knocked down. It's how many times you get up that matters.

    Who was that? Duran, maybe?

    ha! good call ;)
calling bika a "world champion" invokes one of my pet hates though
i'm big on not giving rep to fighters who win 'a title'

by all accounts, bute has grown out of SMW

I saw Butes fight against Grachev, who looked a bit crude but also a tough so and so.Didnt he beat Sillakh?Bute struggled a bit but this guy was no easy opponent. The win might look even better if,as I expect,Sillakh gives Kovalev a few problems tonight.

Thanks. On another thread on the British forum somebody said we wouldn't have many champions if it wasn't for such "titles". And I didn't argue with him.
