No disrespect, but have you seen every last one of these fighters title fights or qualifiers, or did you just run off the names of guys comp that you did not recognize:huh?

 

I'm just basing it off of who's fought people in The Ring top 10. Obviously there's some comp I don't know, but for the most part I know the guys who are in the top 20 in their weight class. Feel free to make an argument that any of those guys has had tougher comp than Bute.

The one I'm the closest to the line on is Erdei, as Gonzalez was champ when he beat him, and he has the two wins over Garay, although they were both very sketchy decisions, but I'm just basing on actual wins and losses.

I can run them all down, and I've seen 90% of the guys on the list fight (I've never seen Kaovichit or Joyi, for example), but it would take time. It's not that I don't think some of them are very good on a H2H basis, but those guys all have pretty weak resumes. A few of them have faced tougher comp overall (Lopez, Cruz), but generally have lost when they stepped up.

And seriously, if having seen every fight that every titlist has had was a requirement to have the discussion, then nobody would be talking about it because I can guarantee you that not a single person on this forum has seen all of the title and qualifier fights most of these guys have been in (and I'm pretty confident that I'm in the top 10% here in terms of actually having seen these guys fight).

 

I don't disagree on that account, but I'm going on resume. Kotelnik had an impressive run to the top where he suffered some close losses and one draw/robbery, but on the other hand, a lot of people thought Maidana won their fight and I'm giving him full credit for that one. I rate Kotelnik pretty highly, but he's never beaten someone in the top 5 in his weight class either.

Obviously Bute hasn't gone overseas or anything for any of his major fights, but other than Andrade (which ultimately, I think was the right call even if it was mishandled), it wouldn't have mattered where the fights were fought because Bute completely dominated all of them.

 

Except that he's not a perfect example. That's my point.

Edwin Valero would be a much better example. If you want the perfect example, look no further than Omar Narvaez.

The problem is you made numerous threads on Bute, so it was hardly a random example.

Added to the fact you claim to be making a general point about boxing today, yet you managed to pick out Bute of all fighters that have done as much or less.

It's agenda driven. You might as well have just made a thread entitled 'Bute's resume sucks' and got the foreplay outta the way.

 

Did he win his title in the ring? Yes, it wasn't handed to him like Adrian Diaconu.

Did he beat a titlist to win his title? Yes, he knocked out Alejandro Berrio in brutal fashion, as opposed to Edwin Valero, who won a vacant paper title.

Has he faced top competition in his division? Yes, Andrade was ranked #3 when he fought him, and Bika, Berrio and Zuniga were all ranked in the top 10. Nobody else on the list I made can claim to have beaten 4 top 10 fighters in their weight class, and only Erdei can claim to have beaten someone as high as #3.

Has he fought any pound for pound fighters? No, there are none in his weight class.

Has he fought the other top 2 guys in his weight class? No, neither of them has been available since he first won his title.

You made a shitty argument, and you're letting your pure hate blind the fact that you made a crappy argument that isn't reasonable. If you actually owned up to **** like this, you wouldn't be one of the biggest running jokes on this forum.
