Bute is too fluid, too much power. F**k hiding in Canada (Montreal), that's becoming a new hot spot for boxing and has nothing to do with it. It's only because Canada has taken a back seat over the last decade/century so it seems like hiding but if you ask me, there are new hiding spots on the map as of right now in the current boxing picture and Montreal is NOT it.

 

Was Ward already one of the best (if not the best) SMWs before stepping in the ring with Kessler? Or his topmost boxing skills just popped into existence by some sudden miracle in the first second of the first round of his Kessler match?
If you choose the first option, then by the same argument you have to keep the doubt about where exactly have to be placed Bute's skills. Ward has proven he's a better boxer than Froch & Kessler but he has not proven he's better than Bute; actually no SMW has proven being a better boxer with respect to Bute (or with respect to Ward, by the same token). The only reasonable & objective conclusion is one doesn't know yet who is the best SMW, there has been no proof in such sense. One might build a fair case based on subjective interpretations or educated guesses keeping in mind what they've shown in the ring up till now, but that would be still no proof either.

If you want to discuss about rankings, these are based on actual achievements, and here one can safely assert that Ward has to be placed on the #1 spot. But achievements may and do usually change very dynamically over time and so do the rankings too, while the actual strength of the fighters in their prime exhibits significantly slower variation rates. Therefore you cannot even hope to accurately transfer a ranking system by a monotonical one-to-one correspondence into a scale of actual strengths. As stated before, this thread is not about ratings but about alleged/inferred boxing skills.

What did Bute do to prove he is the best ? Have an undefeated record against a bunch of journey men ? I mean this is getting out of hand now ..I have never known any fighter to be called the best with out facing the best ! Its easy to look amazing against guys that are not on your level but really who has beat to get that claim ?

I'm a boxing fan and u need to STFU. Ward have not fought Bute yet, he's no 1 at SMW but maybe not the best. I think he will beat Bute, if he dont get knocked out, but until then just keep your mouth shut....:good
