Forget about Super Six fighters, Abraham over Taylor, Ward over Kessler or Froch' judges over Dirrell: Lucian Bute is the #1 SMW. Update: The Ring also recognizes Bute as #1. You might get a #1 spot by defending the MW title 10 times then knocking out Miranda is his backyard and former undisputed champ Taylor, both at 168, but you definitely don't have a point with a SINGLE win over Kessler. It doesn't work like that. What Bute did however, after numerous title defenses with one debatable leading to this rematch, was to outshine both Mr. Cool Beast King Arthur and Son of Grond Andre Ward regardless of their wins: Librado Andrade IS a legit top SMW, a very good PRESSURE fighter (therefore underrated) having only troubles with outstanding elite boxers (beat the hell out of Tsypko and current WBO-champ Stieglitz), has an absolutely iron chin and strong body, and Bute just blew him away. Just like that. In a battle of two great sportsmen, the champ passed the test flying colors. No controversy, no hometown cooking, no room for debate: the Montreal-based Romanian slickster (one of the best body punchers in the sport) is the #1 SMW, and consider putting him on a Top11-20 P4P list. Like I said about a week ago: Bute might be the #1 European fighter, and he just proved us right. There's no claim for the Super Six to become the lineal/undisputed champ - not until the winner faces the unbeaten IBF champion. you say 1 debatable loss. he got kayo'd in the 1st 1!!!! number 1 smw my fukin arse!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! hahahahahahahahaahahahaha andrade is a BUM..to be the number 1 smw you have to fight the best. bute is scared of all the fighters i nthe super 6.he turned down a unification fight with froch..then turned down the super 6. you can't tell me he's getting bigger money as an excuse for him not entering??? he is a coward who would get whooped by everybody in the super 6 apart from taylor. LUCIAN BUTE= FRAUD
I've always known deep down that you were a class act, Big Bone. Yeah, Bute is number 1 for now, but Ward and Abraham will have some good opportunities to challenge Bute for the no. 1 spot. In any case, as you say, the winner of the Showtime tournament cannot be crowned Champ unless he defeats an undefeated Bute. And Bute cannot become Champ without beating the winner of that tournament either. Reading through the threads, it is disgusting to see how much people are starting to underrate Andrade, just because Bute was outstanding tonight. Tonight, Andrade did better than in the first Bute fight. He won the second round for me and the fourth round was competitive until Bute closed the show in impressive fashion. Andrade is still Top 5 for me and, if anything, he's getting better not worse.
I'm sorry, does the title say Amir Khan is the #1 SMW, or your are so dumb my friend you don't even know WTF are you talking about but make us all laught of your ignorance?
Thanks for the Video, Having trouble finding the fight this morning, Great showing from Bute and yeah he is number 1 with Kessler's defeat last week and this stoppage of the Iron Chinned Andrade Bute goes up a spot, Super Middleweight Division is on Fire and the next two year's are gonna be mighty interesting!
Bute was NEVER offered a shot in the Super Six and show some respect, Andrade is a warrior with limited skill's but he could never be called a bum, you are a twat!
lol You really need to shut the **** up kid. Elaborate how rematching Andrade and KO'ing him is cowardly?
E X A C T L Y . . . . Great win for Bute, but Andrade did much better than in the first fight. So maybe...............??? Maybe Bute is the #1 at 168, but to knight him after this fight would be wrong. Bute won a KO, but only after a much more competitive fight ....... Boxing is funny and cruell.............:huh.
If Bute is number 1 why did he duck Froch when he had the chance to unify. Froch was prepared to go to Canada!
If Froch is so good then why did he duck Bute and decided to fight Bute's left over instead back in 2007? It work both ways. :yep But to answer your question. Bute has said in interview that he was very interested by the Froch fight and the money was excellent. But that he wanted to clear the Andrade file before opening another one. He said he's been thinking about the first fight every single day in the gym since last year. Everything he has done in the gym since that fight was in preparation for the rematch. He wanted to show it was just a bump on the road.
