Bute is the best SMW IMO.
I can't be ****ed comparing resume's. IMO Bute beats anyone in the super 6. Based on everything I've seen of all involved.
Of course I could be wrong

Beating Andrade made Kessler #1, and now the same is happening to Bute. Bute has a lot of work to do before being considered as #1.

No one in the SMW division has any serious claim to the #1 spot because none of the top guys have fought enough of the other top guys. You can't give Bute the #1 spot without him having fought at least one or two of the top super 6 guys. You can't give any of those guys the #1 spot until they've fought Bute, and had more fights amongst themselves.

Right now I'd say that Ward (largely on the strentgh of his wins over Miranda and Kessler, as well as his natural talent), Bute, and Abraham have the most claim. But really none of those guys has anything like a complete resume, so it's all just conjecture based on styles and their very limited opposition at this point.

Im sorry but I dont care how you beat him I dont care if you knock him out in the first round..... beating Andrade does NOT make you the #1 super middleweight in the world it just doesnt. Bute's 2 best wins are Andrade and Bika...... come on.

Kessler was the #1 super middleweight in the world and Andre Ward beat him for Ward IS the #1 super middleweight in the world. Bute's resume might have a little more depth but you compare there wo best wins and Ward's the better.

But Kessler became number 1 after beating Andrade so your logic is a little flawed.

:huhCalzaghe was the #1 when Kessler beat Andrade so how did that make him number 1???

Kessler became the #1 by default as he was the only one in the division with a resume and actually fought the top fighters in the division.

when the championship is vacant, then beating #1 doesn't make you number 1. Its a ranking, its not a belt that you win from your opponent.

#1 is debateable right now. The winner of the super 6 vs Bute would establish linearity.

The knee jerk reaction in boxing is ridiculous. Last weekend we had Ward being the world beater and Kessler being a bum, now we have Bute being the number one. Boxing fans are really quick to jump on various bandwagons and then shoot them down at the first chance. Remember when Froch KO'd Taylor, he was near the top of the pile, after a bad showing against Dirrell he is now a bum.
All I can say is stop making rankings and judegemnts based on one fight!!!!!

Bute looked awesome last night. #1 he needs to beat the man to be the man. Kessler was the man, Ward beat him convincingly, and with Abraham coming up in weight and manhandling Taylor like no had before sounds like there are 3 number #1's at the moment! Alot of wildcards which makes the division pretty interesting because anyone can be the top dawg at 168lbs. Can't wait to see how it concludes after the Super6.

Compared to Ward, Bute's resume has more than a little more depth.
