His management team has said in the Montreal media that the original plan to face the 168lbs winner is changed because the tournamnent will now take too much time to complete.

BUTE would have liked to face JEAN PASCAL as soon as March 2011 but since Jean needs to immediately give Dawson a rematch after the HOPKINS fight, their dual will have to wait until at least the end of 2011 !

The BUTE team is now looking to possibly face DANNY GREEN coming back down at 175lbs or there is talk of JOE CALZAGHE coming out of retirement to face BUTE !!! The Calzaghe fight would take place in Europe...

    Your thoughts...

Me too ! Most of the guys fighting it out now at 168lbs will move up to 175lbs anyways. It's just a matter of time !!

175lbs will become a truly stacked division !!

I, like everyone else, was hoping to see him fight the winner of the Super 6. Hopefully that will still happen.

I'm sure Bute-Pascal would be huge in Canada though and there's always Cloud, Shumenov and maybe Cleverly - all good young fighters who I wouldn't mind seeing him fight.

I doubt it happens but it's floating around these days as a possibility being discussed.

I would rather see Bute try to get a belt facing Cloud for instance, but I have a feeling Don King makes that a fight with never ending conditions...

I agree except for saying that Bute would rather move up to skip tougher comp. They were always eager to fight the best possible and they will as the guys you mentioned for 168 will move up to 175 within the next 18 months, except possibly Abraham and Pavlik.

Bute truly wants to face the best but it always takes two to tango and a lot a bull**** is said out there...

It's only on ESPN3.com live. The following day I believe ESPN is replaying it.

Well, Bute should be pulling for Cloud in the event he fights Dawson. That would give him a name opponent next summer while the Super 6 trudges along.

If Dawson were to beat Cloud and Pascal were to beat Hopkins, that would leave Bute in the cold. His best bet then may be to take on Diaconu for a big fight in Canada.

Of maybe the winner of Green/Johnson, assuming that person doesn't advance to the semifinal rounds.

I told you guys, from the very beginning, Bute would not fight the S6 winner, and neither will any other HBO fighter. Showtime has options on the tourney winner, and it would be career suicide to endanger a relationship with HBO for one fight on Showtime.

In addition, this tournament is taking to long. At 168 Bute might be able to fight guys who get eliminated. However, in most cases the guys who get eliminated will be coming off back to back losses. No fighter in his right mind would fight Bute right after two losses. Even if the guy did, he'd be viewed as "damage goods."

A Bute/Pavlik fight looked like hot stuff at one point, but the noise from Top Rank and Cameron Dunkin make it sound like KP will stay at 160. So, that's out too.

Smart move for Bute to just say "screw it" and move up.

Danny Green as Bute's next oppo at 175? Is Green a cruiser or a light heavy?

Hmm maybe the fight with Flores is bull**** after all, unless Green is making Flores come down to 185 lbs....which doesn't seem/look possible tbh.
