He just wants to duck as I predicted he would.

It's too bad he did not get Dawson, I know they had the contracts ready, until he got beat by Pascal. It really sucks and ridiculous he is not in the tournament. The only 2 of the 6 I would give a chance of beating him are AA and Ward.

Jean Bedard, from Interbox, has said a couple of months ago that what he understood from one of the super 6 promoter was that Showtime has an option to equal any offer made to one of the super six fighters.

Exactly -- and they will do whatever they need to do to keep the S6 winner away from HBO. Showtime is not going to invest all this time and money, and that let the star walk away. HBO isn't going to give up a guy who puts asses in seats the way Bute does. I've been pointing this out for months, but apparently people's opinions and fanciful wishes take precedent over facts on ESB.

Bute is just a pretender, moving up to LHW further solidifies that. Maybe he can have a mega-bout with Zsolt Erdei.

Well this would suck. It would open up the door for Bute vs. Pascal, but honestly that can wait until after Bute settles up with the Super Six winner and/or Pavlik.

Also: Bute fighting the Super Six winner on Showtime wouldn't burn any bridges with HBO. As has been said, he puts asses in seats so they're hardly going to tell him to go **** himself if he accepts a little something-something on the side for a big fight on another network and then comes back.

I wish Bute would go ahead and knock Ward out ASAP!

I would tend to agree with you, but it sounds like a very recent decision. If they made the decision after Bute signed to fight Brinkley, he has to go through with that fight. Brinkley does not strike me as a guy who would accept step-aside money.

from what i read in the local newspaper:

"richard schaefer of golden boy promotions told them(not sure who "them"is reffering to, i think yvon michel of GYM) that if jean pascal beat hopkins, that calzaghe might be interested in comming out of retirement to face pascal. calzaghe would consider pascal as the real linear champion @ 175lbs. he would compare pascals fight with b-hop to his fight with b-hop(split descision in 2008) and then go from there....."

so it would apear that this talk of calzaghe returnig is comming from schaefer.....

Bute's team must be laughing after the Direll drop of the S6! Good for them! maybe it will give him the desire to stay at 168lbs because of the super flop!

All the networks or promotional politics are always getting in the way. After all the latest developments, although obviously not realistic, Bute should just jump in that tournament right away and fight Ward in a semi final, with Froch & Abraham being the other semi... Winners meet, that's all ! Automatic and guaranteed exciting unification fights !!

What a waste of time.....why always make it complicated when it could be so easy...

Right, but HBO can put enough money to steal a fighter to Showtime, don't you think?
