Well done for beating cancer, marting! :good Should Green go the counter route? I can see why you suggested that...Bute is usually the one who likes to counter, and if Green makes Bute take the initiative, he has the power and explosive speen to take advantage with counters...but...Bute may very well decide to take one-off stinging pot-shots at him, as he tends to do, whilst keeping a nice distance...and thus force Green to "do something"...if he wants to win rounds. Does Green have a good jab? Is it a powerful jab? Can he snap it?
It's good that Green seems in top form now or at least in better shape than he was with Miranda.Having John David Jackson in the corner is also a good thing. We know he will give a top effort.
Bute's one weakness is he sometimes leaves his guard down and is vulnerable to the counter when he finishes his counter. Andrade can do that but then few have his chin to be a counter off the counter. Andrade's most dangerous tact. He rushes throwing pawshots, takes one, and finds a vulnerable opponent. Green needs to counter off returns from his jabs. Yes, he has a decent jab but he sometimes forgets to use it.
Just looked at his record...he's never even been involved in what was supposed to be a 12-round fight...:blood
Yeah I noticed that too. That's why he might not be able to go the "wear them down and take'm out late" route.
Very true...if Green can do that...he's got a shot, especially early. Bute's always shipped a couple of shots early on... ...ultimately, I get the impression Green's attitude and mental set-up will be the determining factor here, vis-a-vis his chances...
You need a lot of mental strength, will and confidence to do Bute in late, because he tends to take over late on. Green is not supposed to be the strongest mentally...so...yet another reason why he should start strong and give it all he's got early...no?
So what? Evander Holyfield never went more than 8 when he won the WBA CW title from Qawi in a 15 rounder! Pavlik never went 12 till the Taylor rematch. Green will come to fight,he will try, have a fairly decent start till Bute figures him out in the ring cuz Green's inconsistent fights along the way make it hard to really figure him on tape and as the other 24 he will fail. But he will make it very interesting for 3-4 rounds. And while talking about the jabs,Green's jab is a joke, watching the Miranda fight he couldn't even get off with his jabs and believe you me(thanks Richie:yep) Miranda was heavily outjabbing him,Mi****ingranda.
Well, for the life of me I cannot see what he's done to be anywhere near the Top 10, where The Ring have had him for a long time now...
No, I meant he was never in a fight that was supposed to be able to go the championship distance - it says something about his level of opposition.
I can forgive Bute for that one flaw. Most guys who throw 4, 5 and 6 punch combos are guilty of it. But as long as their accurate it doesn't matter. Like I said even though I've seen more of Green he's the bigger question mark. Given his uneven history and flashes of mediocrity. I've never seen Bute look mediocre. Bad one time but I think he punched himself out against Andrade. Pacing is his key. Again the volume punchers need to watch pace.
