Truth is both Abraham and Bute are untested at the elite level. Best fighters on Abraham's record are Miranda(x2) and a shot Taylor. Best fighters on Bute's record Andrade(x2) and Bika.
Only a fool wouldn't see that getting beaten around from pillar to post and rattled unnumerous times from as big a puncher as Abraham, in five rounds until his blood loss made him faint, took a large chunk out of Mirandas recuperation powers. Miranda didn't fold, but it affected him. If anything, PAVLIK has beaten a damaged version of Miranda who has shown nothing of the strength he had in the first Abraham fight. Of course, the registered members of the Pavlik Nuthugging Religion Club disagree.
I have studied Abraham very well myself and been to six of his fights. How shot Taylor was is a matter of opinion. You assume Taylor was a corpse simply because he was ineffective against Abraham instead of being open to the possibility that Abraham is better than you assumed. How we interpret what Abraham has shown and what it means if he fights better competition is also very much subjective. Abraham - Miranda was indeed terrible officiating, I was at the fight and Miranda should have been disqualified. I never seen that many blatant fouls except in Bowe - Golota. To me Abraham has shown several things to suggest he can beat an elite fighter: His defense is hard to penetrate, very good chin, confidence, power. He is technically limited, but effective with what he does. Unlike many limited sluggers, he is hard to hit. His guard largely negates an opponent's jab or chance to box effectively from the outside. A fighter like Abraham doesn't need every boxing textbook move to beat technically more developed fighters. And when he fought Simon, he struggled horribly with making weight. That fight means as much about the best version of Abraham as Wlad's loss to Purrity meand about the current version of Wlad, yet this is your argument you keep recycling.
Abraham by TKO. Bute likes to keep himself open and depends on his reflex. Abraham is the stronger puncher here and Bute is not really someone that is hard to hit. Abraham by TKO in 8th round.
Bute can oubox AA all day long. If he paces himself and picks his shots he has a chance to stop AA (unlikely but possible). AA can KO any of the SMW's including Bute. However, if Bute decides to play it safe, AA will lose a clear UD. AA is a top shelf fighter but Bute moves better, faster and has more weapons. Super Six will provide the opportunity for AA to prove his case (Taylor fight was impressive but not conclusive). From an almost KO victim Bute had the tools to reinvent himself as a KO artist. Bute's win (vs Andrade) and Kessler's loss (vs Ward) made the Romanian-Canadian the most valuable target of the division. AA, Kessler and Froch have the power to floor Bute; Ward matches him in speed, but all of them would have a very difficult fight on their hands and all of them could be KOed.
i really like bute after watching that second andrade fight. but IMO theres no way he wont get tagged from AA.
I like to see both of these boxers fight more often outside their own turf, and especially in Vegas, and see how they respond. Bute is a good boxer, but looks a little "green" at times. AA is a good boxer also, but may be a little bit too small for Bute.
