Yeah, Vanes is an odd duck. He'll look spectacular one outing and pretty average the next. In particular, Ouma stole a lot of his shine and kind of turned some people off from him as a hot prospect.

He isn't quite as inconsistent as Andy Lee, but up there.

Anyway, the results are up on Boxrec. Do you want to know, or would you rather not have any spoilers on the off chance they do show it to fill time after Bute quickly knocks out Magee? :think

Round 1 - 10-9 Cotto on clean effective punching

Mayorga is slamming home with some of those overhand rights in the first half of the 2nd, overwhelming Cotto for a short period with his aggression. Cotto comes back to even up the round with his jab. Nice uppercut by Mayorga, catches Cotto unawares! Wow. Mayorga throws an uppercut; Cotto deflects it and lands a left hook to the body all in one fluid motion. Then Mayorga lands a hookercut to the chin. This is a much better fight on a big screen in HD than it seemed the first time I watched it (with divided attention). :yep

 

@ Mayorga in the 3rd, stamping his feet in the corner and telling Cotto to come rushing in on him like Foreman in Zaire.

Also @ Mayorga's corner telling him "You're wasting punches!" at the conclusion of that round.

Yeah, because he's usually such a damn CPA in there..
