Yes and No.
Yes in that I felt Bute would beat Froch and that I felt he would have beaten Ward back then. I liked Bute and felt he could have become the man of the division, but didnt have a problem when mentioning that Bute could well have been stopped against Andrade or that he seems concerned about commiting to shots for what may return.
I didnt think Bute would have made such an impression a few years back but at that time felt he was the best in what I felt was a poor era of the division.

I have said for a while that I dont think the SMW division is as strong as it was a decade or so ago, but is now better known. Consider a S6 comp was invented just to fill a gap of an old dominant champ and one of his victims scored the best win of the comp. Even now it is a very recycled division when you consider Degale has won his title from Dirrell who didnt make it back then and looks to be defending against Bute who hasnt been the same since the Froch loss.

Still to get back on track, yes I thought Bute may have been the best of what I felt was a poor division, and at that time when Bute was undefeated think he would have handled Ward, as styles make fights. Froch not the most technically gifted, I felt would have been outboxed, but Froch steamed over Bute, which is something I dont think many of the other SMWs could/would have done.
Many other SMWs did not seem to want to go near Bute.

Funny thing is I put Vcash on Froch.

 

I seem to recall during the S6 you were one of the most vocal saying that promoters locked Bute out of the tournament because Bute was the heavy handed version of Joe Clazaghe, so everyone was ducking him.

I do recall being given some info similar to that when asking questions, but no, didnt write anything like that and definately dont see Bute as talented as Calzaghe. As I noted, I have not been convinced about the division for some time, so am hardly going to compare Bute to the greatest SMW ever atsch.

As you only joined the forum last month, I struggle to believe that you have been watching me post those years back, unless you are an alt, who has had a failed time on ESB and is now trying to make a name for yourself off of my top posting. Seems likely

What's been denied? I openly admit I favoured Bute to beat Froch. As for the rest, I haven't a clue what you are going on about.

Love him or hate him, Carl Froch was tough as nails and has a heck of a resume.
