Lucian Bute vs. Edison Miranda

I've heard that one way too many times. I honestly think it's a lame excuse. Televised fights bring in revenue just like seating at the arena does. His fan base will remain limited to the area he fights in otherwise. He will also limit the quality of opposition if he doesn't fight outside of Montreal. So Andrade went there? So Bika went there? Those names are hardly noteworthy. I can list six SMW's right off the top of my head who haven't fought ONCE in Canada. They are all quite noteworthy. Butes following seems like nothing more than a cult following for the time being.

 

You're damn right about that. The bay area has Robert Guerrero, Nonito Donaire and Andre Ward. If you ask people around the bay area who those guys are you'll get some confused looks. Only a few states in America, Texas or Minnesota for example, support their local fighters. California could give a damn about theirs. There's too much other **** going on in New York for them to care much either. Several other examples as well...too many to list. Any chance you might be from Florida?
