Bute's reach might be somewhere between 72' (183cm) and 76'(193cm)... i think.

Against Zuniga, showtime listed Bute's reach as 72". In the first fight against Andrade it was listed as 74". The 70" of reach listed on Box Rec is obviously a mistake
HBO they gave the arm length (24") The reach on his site says 27.5''
http://fightnights.com/boxers.php?id=446 Reach: 35" (arm length)
Quote: Andrade, 28-1 (21), from Mexico will enjoy a two inch reach advantage, but will he be able to keep the constant pressure from Bute, off him? end Quote bottom of the page http://boxinggreats.multiply.com/notes?&page_start=60
Andrade is listen on wikipedia with 78″ / 198cm reach

Haye has 198cm reach and you can not compare it with Miranda's reach. Let's be serious !

Well Haye is taller than Miranda that has an impact on his reach as well.

At this point in his career talking about retiring undefeated, on top, is very hard to imagine, especially with all the competition he would have to face to get there. Sure, if he gets passed Miranda and keeps facing the opponents of the world, he could stay undefeated, but not on top. I don't see Bute hiding though, he will take the challenges and eventually lose.

I am not try to discourage you from being hopeful, anything is possible. if Bute is as special as some of you think, then it could happen.

Don't forget guys, there is a fight this Saturday and like I said, anything is possible. :yep

I'd prefer Bute to face the bests and lose a couple of fights than hiding and keep a perfect record. As a fan, I have to live with the strong possibility of a defeat one day. That's boxing.

“A guy who has relied on power all his life, if you take that away - what has worked for him all his career - you’re taking away his soul,” Stéphan Larouche said. “I’ve known a lot of boxers who wanted to improve their skills and they lost their soul.

“A boxer, no matter what happens, when you’re in survival mode, you go back to your habits. When you get hit, the old reflexes will come back.”

I agree. :D

Goossen: Miranda in great shape
By Dave Spencer / FIghtnews Canada

Big Joe Miranda
Edison Miranda makes his fourth appearance on HBO this weekend and if his team is to be believed, the hard slugging Colombian’s lethal right hand will be only one element of what we’ll see in the ring against undefeated IBF super middleweight champion Lucian Bute on Saturday night at the Bell Centre in Montreal. “He was a one trick pony when I got him,” said famed trainer Joe Goossen who has been working with the fighter since his loss to Arthur Abraham 11 months ago. “He stood straight, threw the big right, kept the same distance, everything was pretty one dimensional. He was fairly rudimentary and all he had was that forceful right hand.”

It remains to be seen what progress Miranda has made in the nine months he has worked with Goossen, having only had a two minute test drive against Francisco Sierra last October where Miranda (33-4) scored the 29th knockout of his career.

Goossen admits that they are jumping in with both feet in accepting the fight with Bute. “If I had my druthers on who I would fight, I’d probably pick Pee Wee Hermann. We had a chance to face (WBO champ Robert) Stieglitz but Edison had a reoccurring flu that just kept coming back and kept him down for over three weeks, we really had no choice but to pull out. I view this as a tougher challenge though. We’ve watched lots of film of Lucian and we did one thing, we trained to win.”

Goossen says what he got in Miranda was first and foremost an athlete. “We started testing him in L.A. and he took to everything like a cat to milk. He took on everything I could throw at him. I can say that he is one of the great athletes we’ve ever seen in our gym. We were stunned at his athleticism. He was able to execute with precision everything we had hoped for. He’s been sparring 15 to 18 rounds with three different sparring partners and working harder than he ever has before.”

The California trainer also stated that while he has tapered down the intensity in the last several days as the fight approaches, what are now routine light workouts used to be maximum capacity for the fighter and that conditioning will not be a problem in the fight.

When asked about the judges, Goossen said, “We want to win our rounds definitively and leave no doubt. I want it to be clear who won each round, but this doesn’t have the feel of a fight that should go the distance.”

We will see. Nobody knows if the old reflexes will come back on Saturday night. That is my only true worry.
Joe isnt stupid, he is not taking away Miranda's power. He is not trying to turn him into a boxer. If anything Joe's speciality is taking big punchers and turning them into much improved fighters. We will see soon enough if the changes needed have been made and working.
