I never particularly thought Bute had stamina trouble, in general, because he's always finished very strong, except in the Andrade fight. Saying that, he's always liked to take breaks during fights, as soon as he was controlling the pace and distance. He got away with that against all but Andrade, but he wouldn't get away with it against Taylor. Taylor would definitely impose a swift rhtyhm to the fight. He is very active and aggressive early on and against Bute, he wouldn't face someone relentless, like Pavlik, so he wouldn't have to worry that much about stamina, I think. Sure, it's a weakness of his, but I wouldn't say it would definitely let him down against Bute...against Andrade on the other hand, that's another story...
So let's agree on the fact that stamina wouldn't be an issue in a Taylor-bute fight. Based on what we know of both men.
To be honest, it's not so much stamina that Im worried about where Bute is concerned v. Taylor, but the way he deals with the aggressiveness and precision of Taylor's combinations.
Stamina might play an important role for both fighters if Taylor imposes a fast, continuous pace, as he's likely to do. I'm not sure Bute would deal well with that.
Well, after Andrade, I don't think Taylor's agressiveness could be a problem. I see your point for the precision factor. Bute doesn't like to be hit. He will stay away until he finds the right distance to attack without being hit. That's why he often starts slowly. Usually, he's very good to find his distance. As Taylor would be the best technician he would have faced so far, the question is there to ask: will he find the right distance? We can also reverse it. Taylor is not used to have someone as fast and precised as him and Bute is. How will he react against a fast southpaw? Not very well in my opinion. It's a good match up, let's hope it happens soon.
Good close fight imo. I missed the Lacy and Andrade fights, so will hold off on my prediction til i see em. I see a close fought 12 round fight either way though.
It's unfortunately far from a done deal fight.... Interbox still owe Sauerland a fight this spring and that may be a problem to organize Bute-Taylor. Interbox need to consistently put Bute on Showtime or HBO and that's the perfect Boxing After Dark kinda fight !! If it ever does come off, Bute outpoints Taylor something like 8 rounds to 4 !
Now seems that Taylor will likely fight the winner of Froch-Pascal so Bute-Taylor is further from done, it's riskier anyways !
I asked Dwyer from Youtube for his view and this is what he replied: "Bute is a southpaw who would do well against Taylor. Frankly, I thought Taylor lost to another southpaw, Cory Spinks. Bute's jab and movement would be too much. I would take him over Taylor."
He didn't quite say that, though, did he? These are Dwyer's further thoughts on the fight. Notice the last phrase: "I view Taylor as limited. Bute has more potential. He fought a masterpiece against Andrade until that disastrous last round. I thought Taylor lost to Winky Wright (fight ruled a draw). I thought he lost to Cory Spinks. He should have beaten Kelly Pavlik -- an even more limited fighter -- easily, but didn't seem able to make basic adjustments (e.g., circling in the middle of the ring, forcing Pavlik to throw across his body). A Bute matchup would be a good fight. I think Bute wins the decision by fighting the same fight Spinks did -- forcing Taylor to move and be off rhythm. If Taylor can't land his jab, he is lost. He uses it for timing and doesn't seem to have a Plan B. That said, his jab is beautiful to watch."
