Round 4

Bute watches as Brinkley moves in and out and sweeps with high hooks and looping rights. Bute lands to the body and then crashes a straight left to the mouth, and has Brinkley trapped on the ropes momentarily. Brinkley now gets backed up by the right jab and again finds himself on the ropes, quickly skipping off to one side. Bute controls with his footwork and jab and nearly narrows in on Brinkley in a corner. Brinkley lands a jab coming off the ropes. Bute reaches with a hook that bounces off the back of Brinkley's neck.

 

Round 5

Bute lands a left hand and Brinkley tries to hulk up. Bute misses a left uppercut dipping in a deep low arc from his shoulder. Bute works the right jab into Brinkley's face and takes a counter hook behind the ear by the smaller man getting up on his toes and lunging up. They trade jabs at mid-range at a slow pace. Bute is scoring well now with a combo of jabs to the face and uppercuts to the chest. Brinkley is hurt. Bute stays on him and slaps to the side of the head. Another left uppercut to the abs puts Brinkley down and nearly out. He beats the count at nine and a half and spits out his mouthpiece to gain more time. He is saved by the bell.
